It may sound silly but I am struggling to get the case off my 7200 without damaging it! I have removed the 4 T10 screws and the back comes off easily enough but the front (around the handle) does not seem to want to give and I am hoping someone can give me some better advice than "jiggle it!" Many thanks in advance

check the lamp again. look in the reflection in the bell of the center glass. do you see any black spots or cracks or uneven bulging? if so, change the lamp and blow the dust out, because it may be over heating. otherwise, the power supply is fried and needs replacing.

Not sure if this helps with the 7200 bu had a 4805 with a failed fan issue. There are two fans inthe unit, one smaller one that cools the color (colour) wheel and the larger one that cools the lamp. This unit had a problem with the larger lamp fan not turning. Unplugged and disassembled the unit to get the fan out and tested the fan using a 9v battery and a couple of wires (best to uplug the fan from the controller board so you are not forcing voltage into the unpowered controller board... that said, I did it hooked up just peeling back the label in the centre of the fan and touching the wires to the solder contacts) The fan worked fine so figured the controller board was the issue, so this wasn't going to be a simple "buy a new fan" issue.
Here is where your mileage may vary...
I decided that it would be OK to just run the fan. Unplugged the fan and powered it from the 9V battery and assembled the unit and powered it up. Found that there was 7v available on the power board at the second pin that was alwasy on when the power switch was on (thats the positive 7 V pin, but measure it with a meter since we are talking about a different projector) and just wired the fan direct to pin 1 and 2 (1 is ground on the 4805, 2 is +7V) and so now whenever the main power is on the fan runs, so after ti cools down I just power off the main power when not in use... or let the fan run if the noise isn't an issue. Crude but effective fix.

there are 2 fan assemblies in this model. a double fan for the lamp, and a single fan for the dmd chip. check for obstructions through the vents (pieces of plastic or paper will stop the fan). if nothing is in there, you could buy the parts from an infocus service center and replace them yourself or send it to them to fix. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com
SOURCE: How do you open the front of the Infocus
If all screws are out of the bottom and the rear of the unit, pop the outer ring of the zoom/focus assy off using a wide flathead. Then flip the unit on it's back with the lens towards you. Grab the bottom of the front bezel with both hands and pull the bottom towards you until it pops out. At this point you should be able to see the clip things that are part of the top that the front snaps into. Place your flathead under the clip and twist up a little while pulling on that side of the front. Repeat for the other side of the front. Do the same for the rear.

Hi Ian, I have the SP5700 model and they are identical, except for the resolution output. What you are looking for is the front flap of plastic on the handle front face. pop this out with a small terminal screwdriver, working the plastic flap out all around from the internal lugs. The top, and bottom of the projector will then easily split apart. Rgds,
