Where can I get a copy of Setenv.ini for a Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 so that I can get the Recovery Disc to be recognised following a major crash?

When my laptop failed to boot up I tried to use the Recovery Disc. the first time it went through the menus and then stopped. I discovered that the Hard drive had been formatted and partitioned. When I tried to restart the machine with the Recovery disc it gives me a message: ERROR: Could not get a language entry from INI file! Section: Common Key: InstallCMD File: Setenv.ini Exit..... Any ideas how I can overcome this problem?

Thank you to eveeryone who posted a reply to my query. Regrettably, having had the machine checked at a local repair shop, it turns out that the hard drive is knackered and there is nothing that can be done other than replace it . Unfortunately, I can't affor that so I have had to dispose of the laptop. thank you for the sound advice. I hope that it helps others.

SOURCE: Toshiba satellite pro l40 boot up problem

If you run a repair with the recovery disc you won't lose any info. The only time you'll lose the info is if you run a complete reload. Run the system disc until it gets to the point of finding installed operating systems, at this point instead of deleting the partition, press R and it will reinstall the operating system files only leaving other installed files and programs intact. Keep in mind that many times when this happens, it's a hard drive failure. If it is a hard drive failure, then you will have to replace the hard drive and you will lose the info, sorry.

SOURCE: getting grey screen with wrong machine

Create a bootable DOS disk and place it in the drive. Then restart the system. that should get you to a DOS prompt. At the DOS prompt you can tell it to change to the D: drive. You can tell if you have done this right because you will see a D: as part of the prompt. Insert recovery disk 1. If it does not start reading the disk type DIR at the D drive prompt. That will list all the files on the D: Drive. There should be one called autostart or install. Type in the name of the file including the extension. Hit enter.

A second approach is to hit F12 during start up and drop down to the second item and hit enter. That started the Toshiba recovery disk for me once when it would not read it automatically at start up.

SOURCE: I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. The DVD drive

After cleaning the DVD drive a number of times it started to work again. I have waited a little time to make sure it still works, and now it seems to be OK.

Can I use a Toshiba recovery disk for A210 series if I have an A505 series? They are both Windows Vista

That is about the only thing thew same about them other than the name Toshiba. The A505 is an Intel Processor, the A210 has an AMD processor. They have completely different video graphics chipsets, audio, and LAN configurations, Assuming that the A210 disc will load in the A505, you would not get proper video, audio or LAN drivers. Recovery disks are made for the machine they are bundled with. You can try, but don't be surprised if your result is less than optimal.

My laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 is locked with password in BIOS SETUP It does not recognise the original password

Wow, as I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro. I'm sorry, but there is no easy way out of this if you have enabled a bios lock. It is looking for a password that "someone" set up. I say that because there is no bios password when you setup the machine. Also, the bios password is completely different from the user or system password. (Although you could make them the same.)

Please find the person you got the computer from; type in the correct password; and be aware that it is case sensitive. Make sure the caps key is not accidentally down.

Recap:
- there is no original bios password; you would have needed to set it, and remember it. There is no recovery (that I'm aware of) to a mis-placed bios password.

Toshiba satellite a210 was on and working yesterday left it came back to it later it was off no power to it no battery no lights no nothing completely dead , power lead works but will not do a thing.

It could be one of the following:
1. Bad/damaged power jack.
2. Bad motherboard.

Visually inspect the power jack to make sure it is not broken or damaged.
Test voltage on the power jack to make sure it is not damaged.

I have a broken DC input jack on a Satellite Pro A210-16V. I am simply trying to source the spare part to fix it myself! Thanks!!!

^Copy-paste in browser^

Kinda pricey, but it's the whole harness. No soldering required.
**Open up your machine and visually compare them! It SHOULD be right, but sometimes they're different even though they are for the same model.

Hope this helps!

I can not make my recovery disc.

Hi there.
I'm sorry to tell you that when you reformatted the drive you deleted the recovery partition and all the recovery information on it, this is why the recovery disk creator cannot be launched and is giving you an error.
Thankfully for you, you created a recovery disk before you wiped the drive so this is your only way of restoring the system so make a back-up copy of the recovery disk you made and keep it safe as the problem cannot be solved because you deleted the recovery partition.

Thanks for using FixYa!!
