SOURCE: i can't get a sound from my yamaha rx-v367. my tv

Last update: 05/02/2008
Connect the audio outputs jacks from the TV to any available audio input terminals on the Yamaha receiver, other than the phono input. You can use any analog audio Left (White) and Right (Red) inputs on your receiver such as the DTV/CBL, SAT or VCR input. There are no special settings needed on the receiver, other than selecting the correct input. There may be some settings that will need to be changed on the TV. Consult the TV ownersEmanual for setting up the TV to output audio to an external source. If youre TV has a digital output (Optical or Coaxial) it can also be run to one of the digital inputs on the Yamaha receiver, such as DTV/CBL or DVD. There may be some settings that will need to be changed on your TV. As always, consult the TV ownersEmanual for setting up the TV to output digital audio to an external source.

NOTE: When the source of the audio signal is coming from an HDMI device connected to the TV, the TV may not output in 5.1 surround sound.

I have a Yamaha rx-v367. The HDMI plays video from my blue Ray but no sound. Tuner, no sound. IPod, no sound. Phone was hooked up in multiple inputs. No sound. I'm stuck here. Please help.

It sounds like the Yam can switch video sources but the audio amplifier section is dead. Although I'm not familiar with this unit, simple logic tells me that unless it's a mulit-channel and/or surround sound" setting, the audio section of your Yamaha has failed. If the Yam has speaker protection mode (5-10 sec. delay when 1st turned on) it's possible that a defective speaker (or speaker wire) could be causing the protection circuit to NOT connect amp-to-speakers. Disconnect one speaker at a time (at rear connection on Yamaha) to see if audio returns.

Stuck in headphone mode

There should be a cable going to the headphone pcb. If you unplug that cable, it should clear the false h/p detection that is happening. Of course, you won't be able to use the headphones then. To completely fix it, you would have to replace the headphone jack.

Faulty right speaker

Sounds like a bad speaker. There isn't anything in the receiver that would cause it to not pass certain frequencies.
