Eddie, turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Then remove the bucket and check the float valve in the top of the bucket. It may be stuck in the 'UP' position or is broken. When reinstalling the the bucket, be sure that it fit's "squarely" from top to bottom in the bucket holder and is making firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the rear wall of the bucket holder.

Dehumidifer FDD40J6, probably 10 years old, just stopped working. Emptied the bucket and it won't start again despite settings on dials. Electricity is working - take out bucket and light goes on.

The problem lies in the way the bucket is reinstalled or the float valve (if yours is so equipped) is stuck in the UP position.

Remove the bucket for it's holder and check for the float valve. If it is stuck in the up position, jiggle the arm to make it return to the down position. Be fore you reinstall the bucket, look at the back wall of the bucket holder. There you will see a trigger switch. It's the bucket safety removal switch. Check it to make sure it's still intact. At 10 years old it may have broken OFF. If it appears to be be intact, install the bucket "squarely" into the bucket holder from top to bottom. Being sure that it makes firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch. When installed correctly, the bottom of the bucket will not tilt down at all.

Also, check the air intake filter as it may be dirty of clogged.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Model 53701 purchased 2003. Hardly used. Has been on working fine. Shut it off to empty, pressed power to turn back on, & Nothing. Dead. It is not the plug Help barb

Barb, if thee water collection bucket is not properly installed or the float valve in the top of the bucket is stuck in the UP position, the unit will not turn back ON.

Remove the bucket, check the float valve's position (if it's stuck in the UP position, jiggle the arm of the float valve to make ir return to the DOWN position). When reinstalling the bucket, be sure it fits "squarely" from top to bottom into the holder, so the it will make contact with bucket safety removal switch. It should not tilt down at the bottom at all.

Shut down, auto shut off light is on. Machine will not turn on. Not sure of model number.

First, turn the unit OFF and unplug it from the wall outlet. Remove the bucket and check if it's full or not. If full, empty it. If not, and yours is equipped with a float valve in the top of the bucket, be sure that the float valve arm is not stick in the UP position. Giggle the float arm to make it return to the DOWN position. Replace the bucket in the bucket holder, being sure that it fits "squarely" in the holder from top to bottom and is not tilted down at the bottom. Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Then set the humidity extraction level at 35%. If any of the above was the problem, the unit should start and function as it was designed.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

MY LG MODEL # LD450EAL HAS THE FULL BUCKET LIGHT BLINKING AND THE BUCKET IS EMPTY AND HAS BEEN CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THAT IT HAS BEEN REINSTALLED PROPERLY BUT IT STILL DOES NOT STOP BLINKING AND THE UNIT...

Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit from the wall. Remove the bucket and check inside the top of the bucket for a Float Valve (some Haier unit have them) It may be stuck in the UP position. If so, jiggle the arm of the float vale to get it to return to the DOWN position. Reinstall the bucket again. However, leave the unit OFF & unplugged for 10 minutes, before plugging it back in and turning it ON. Whether you have a float valve of not, the 10 minute time out, should have given the unit's electronics time to reset themselves.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

'bucket full' light on, but bucket empty

There is likely a switch operated by a float to turn that light on and turn off the compressor, sometimes manufactures use a rubber "O" ring on the float shaft and they can slip. take the cover off the pump and check the float or in some cases one of two floats are used. Once float turns the pump on and off and the second float shuts OFF the compressor and turns ON the full reservior light.

Auto shut off comes on instantly

TURN UNIT OFF.. MAKE SURE DEHUMIDIFIER HAS NOT BEEN RUN FOR AT LEAST FIFTEEN MINUTES... TAKE BUCKET OUT... HOLD IN THE BUTTON THAT THE FLOAT IN THE BUCKET PUSHES ON.. THEN TURN ON THE UNIT.. DO NOT LET GO OF THE BUTTON EVEN A LITTLE BIT IF YOU DO YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FIFTEEN MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN.. IF UNIT WORKS THEN YOUR FLOAT IN THE BUCKET IS THE PROBLEM...

Bucket full light will not go off and unit will not operate (there is no water in the bucket).

The bucket full light is controlled by a manual 'float' switch in the bucket itself
-when the water level rises...it lifts the float ...turns on the light and does not allow the unit to operate because it believes it is full.

It is very common for the 'float' to gets misaligned, hung-up, etc. when you remove and re-insert the bucket. Sometimes the 'chain' gets twisted, turned...which does not allow the float to ...float...rather it is 'hung-up' which indicates it is 'full'...when in fact it is clearly not.

To check this:
  • remove bucket from unit
  • look into the top of the bucket opening to locate the 'float'...generally 2" round plastic ball on a shaft, (or chain)
  • softly cup the float in order to lift this up...with the unit stilll plugged in...to see if the light goes off...this is very likely
  • then be sure that the float mechanism is able to freely 'float' in the space....i.e. you are trying to simulate the impact of rising water levels in the bucket
  • as it rises (in your hand the machine will turn off/light on...as it drops....the light shuts off, allowing the machine to run (when humidity levels demand it)
  • then re-install the bucket....being very careful to lift the float, while you insert it...there is generally a little nack to it...but you quickly learn how to do it easily (I just reach into the space...cup the float...put the bucket on an angle...slide it in....release the float into the bucket...(remove hand)...then finish pushing the bucket into place
-hope this helps
