Mitsubishi wdy65 turns off after a couple minutes red lamp light

Was watching tv when the tv randomly shut off and the lamp light flashed on red. Took the bulb thing out of the back and it looked fine so I put it back in and put all the screws and stuff back. The tv is now consistently turning on for 2-5 minutes and then turning off the picture and lighting the lamp light up with red. I've replaced the bulb twice in the life of the television and this bulb has been working for about 6 months just fine. Thanks for your help

SOURCE: just replaced the lamp after 2 years. TV worked

Make sure that the lamp cage is seating well .. then make sure the door is closed properly. there is a door switch and if the door dont close right the switch may be telling the set the lamp is out.

SOURCE: My Mitsubishi DLP TV has a 7 month old bulb, but

take the bulb out and clean the dust on and around the fan. Doing this every 3 to 4 months will extend the bulb life. The little red lamp light that is coming on is an indicator that the bulb needs replaced. Make sure you DO NOT touch the bulb with your fingers. There is a button for reseting the bulb when you replace it. I have a 65 inch Mitsubishi DLP that the bulb just went out on. This worked for me...hope it works for you.

TV shuts itself off after a couple minutes of being on.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.
