Air compressor does not regulate pressure to set point.

My emglo electric air compressor will not shut off when it reaches 90psi that I set it for and it keeps going so I have to shut it off manually because I am afraid it will blow up if I don't shut it off . The switch works manually,;what is stoping it from working automatically to the pressure I set it at? Model # AM78HC4V

are you setting it with the regulator or are you setting it in side the pressure switch?

Emglo airmate compressors are set from the factory to shut off at around 125psi. There is an adjustment (remove cover to pressure switch) that will controll the cut-off pressure but it is not recommended changing the factory setting. There is also a safety valve installed that will open at about 160psi. It is a small brass device with a pull ring. When things go wrong with the pressure switch (rectangular box with power cord coming out of one side) the safety will pop open. There is a pressure regulator with round knob on panel that will lower the pressure to the tool, however this regulator does not control the pressure switch. Let you compressor run untill it shuts off and verify pressure to be about 125, if it is then all as well. Good Luck

I have a Hilti air compressorand it will not stop building preasure. How do I adjust it?

The pressure regulator switch needs to be replace. This the little black box that your power cord comes out of. It screws into the compressor. You must remove the wires going to the electric motor. Then unscrew from compressor and replace with new regulator.

When my compressor reaches 120psi it shuts off but air comes out of the regulator. I replaced the regulator and it is still leaking air when it stops. When it reaches 90psi the pump starts again. It does...

The air is coming out of the pressure switch but the problem is the tank check valve. The tank check valve is on the tank where the large line from the pump feeds into the tank. There is also a smaller line, either plastic or copper, from the check valve to the pressure switch. When the pump shuts off the check valve is supposed to close and the pressure switch opens a valve that lets the head pressure bleed off through the small line. This lets the motor start the next time without any pressure in the head. If the check valve isn't closing properly the air will leak out as you describe.

Relief value releases and will not reset

Likely the check valve is bad or has contamination on the seat. The result is the pressure will bleed back out the compression relief valve which is often as part of the pressure switch.

If the safety valve is the one that is bleeding, then the pressure is set too high at the pressure switch.

How do you adjust the pump pressure valve on a Emglo model KU

do you mean the relief valve. it is factory set for your safety and the sefety of the equiptment. also known as the safety relief valve.

if you are talking about working pressure you need to adjust that with the air regulator.

if you are talking the cut out pressure sensor, again this is also factory set for safety. if your equiptment is designed for 110 psi then when your resivor reaches that set point it should cut the motor off and stop running.

Pop off valve on return line leaking compressor keeps running turn compressor off stops leaking whats up?

Once the pop off valve reaches its opening point, it will stay open as long as the pressure is above that point. When you shut the compressor off, the pressure leaks down until the pop off valve closes. Sounds like the pressure regulator is set a little too high. If you can turn the regulator switch down, it should fix it.

DeWalt emglo compressor does not start

hello,
well, you have to release the pressure, the cut out pressure at 120 psig.reached, and the cut in pressure maybe at 40 psig.so after realeasing pressure at cut in the compressor will run.if the compressor not run at cut in or after releasing check your power supply if still have, swicth off power breaker,by pass pressure switch,by disconnecting the line on terminals of pressure swtich, connect the line w/out pressure switch
the wire line should supply the the compressor,
open the service valve of compressor, switch on
observe if compressor run and develop pressure or air is coming out to nozzle,if that so switch off again and replace pressur switch.you have defective pressure switch, regards rate me,thanks

Engine shuts off when max PSI is Reached, instead of cutting out and still running? does anyone have a solution.

Dont understand the question , does the engine shut off after p-max is met , or does it continue to run , if it continues to run then you have a pressure switch problem

Compressor will not shut off

The switch is bad, replace it, this should solve the problem.
