SOURCE: Nikon D40 Memory Card Error

Hello. Make sure the write-protect switch on the SD card is in the UP (nearer to the contacts) position. Try the card in an SDHC capable reader on your computer first. Note that the SD card can only be inserted one way - make sure you're not putting it in upside-down! If the computer recognizes the presence of inserted card (whether it can read it or not), format it at FAT32. When finished, remove properly (icon in system tray) and insert into your D40 slot, WITH THE CAMERA OFF!! Turn on the D40, and if it now recognizes the SD card, FORMAT it again, in the camera. Good luck.

SOURCE: Sd card won't click into place on my Nikon d60

Check your SD card, there may be a piece of it missing. Did the same to my camera and looking into the card holder, there was a piece of SD card lying at th bottom! (I used a needle to dislodge it!)

SOURCE: camera works with standard SD memory card, but not SDHC

There are hardware incompatibilities between SD and SDHC cards. They're upward compatible in that SDHC devices will accept SD cards but not the other way around. You will have to hunt down SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

SOURCE: Nikon Coolpix 5900/4 GB Kingston SD Card

The 5900 uses SD cards. The 4GB card you have is actually an SDHC card and will not work in the 5900. You'll have to stay with cards 2GB and smaller.

Is it possible to fix lens error

Hi,

please ensure that you've changed between all 4+ camera modes within your camera. If this fails, then you can remove the Sd card and then afterwards remove the batteries. After 1 minute, you can re-insert the batteries back into the camera without adding the sd card and check for the error again. If this fails, then you can re-insert the sd card and check again.

Otherwise, you might need to take camera to Geeksquad/Bestbuy for repair.

Thank you.

The LCD screen comes on but is blank. Cannot take or retrieve pictures.

Hello my friend,
Did you drop the camera ?
Basically this can be Lens broken or screen broken. you can check that by:
1. try to move your hands around the lens and see if it will change something. 2. take a picture even tough the screen is blank and then take the memory card and insert it into your computer, if you can see the picture on your computer that means the screen is broken. but if you cannot see the picture on PC that means the Lens is broken.

Camera screen said SD card is locked when I installed an SD card

The SD card has a lever on the side of it. Move it to the other position. That is to prevent accidental erasing.

Camera wont turn on

How I fixed my Camera:

> First take your Memory card off, and remove battery
> Now, leave your camera without battery-power
=(wait for while!)

>Then,start your camera WITHOUT Memory-Card.

Note: MiniSD Card with adapter, may crash/freeze camera.
(so use the real "one piece" SD-card, not that Micro-thing!)

>When i removed the old SD card, everything was OK.

I hope this can help many others?

Chip says full after few pics

The chip may not be inserted correctly. You can tell by seeing or not seeing SD symbol in the view screen. Try removing the SD card. Go through the memory and see if the pictures were saved to the camera or to the card. If the pictures were saved to the camera, turn off the camera and re-insert the card. See if the cards responds by showing more pictures available for taking and move the pictures to the card. If the pictures were saved to the card, then the card may need to replaced.

Camera wont work when memory card is inserted

I suggest you try to use a different memory card. If it doesn't happen again then it's probably a bad memory card.
