What do i need to have to download ds lite games
Hypthetically, if someone wanted to do this they would first need a way of getting the said "illegal" games that are otherwise known as ROM's. There are numerous "illegal" sites on the internet where one can download these ROM's.
Not that I have ever done it but I have it on very good authority that if you type "frozen-roms" into Google you may or may not come up with a particularly good website for such things.
If you are after games specifically for a DS, be it lite or otherwise, you will want to get a file from one of these websites that contains a file ending in ".nds". Now, the files on offer can be quite big and would take a long time to download but fear not. The items on offer are all "zipped files" meaning they have been reduced in size for faster downloading.
Now once you have downloaded a file, you will need to "unzip" the file to use the documents and items inside. You can do this easily with a tool like Winzip but I personally prefer a program called Bitzipper (it looks prettier). Both of these programs are free; once again just type either Winzip or Bitzipper into Google and as they say Robert is your father's brother.
Now that you have unzipped the file using your program (by the way, you do this by right-clicking on the downloaded file and choose "Open with" then choosing your unzipping program) you will probably see a number of files and you will think to yourself what on earth is this gobaldygook!? Don't Panic. Simply highlight all the files you see and click and drag them to the desktop or, if you are particularly organised and tidy, a new folder with the name of the game you have downloaded (this prevents nonsensical files from loitering about all over the place like a gang of sullen youths). Now you can get rid of the bitzipper box.
Go to the files that you have just moved around and you will see another file that can be opened using Winzip/Bitzipper (if you can't see this file then just double click on everything like a madman until Winzip or Bitzipper open up).
And, marvel or marvels, you will find located inside like a tiny fragment of computer gold previously encrusted by binary code dirt a file ending in .nds! Once again move this file to the desktop or a folder containing all your .nds files (you won't be needing the previous files anymore, see them as the wrapping paper to particularly tasty chocolate bar) and close eveything down.
Congratulations, you now have a DS game in your computer BUT you will need to make the computer think it is a DS console before you can play it. This is very simple. Type "NO$GBA" into google and download the program that is the same name. Once downloaded and set up. Simply double click NO$GBA and it will ask you to start a game. Go to the place where you saved your .nds file and double click it. Hey presto, you are now playing a nintendo DS game on your computer and you have not spent a solitary penny, dime or rubel.
But you may be thinking to yourself, "Omega, I'm satisfied with this. I want to be able to actually play free games on this sparkly new DS that I have bought. I don't want to play them on my computer, it won't fit in my pocket and I won't be able to play Hello Kitty Paradise on the tube to work while pretending to read The Independant. Once again, Fear Not! God hath brought down his hand to the mortal coil and given you the answer that thou has sought....eth.
The Cyclo DS. This fabulous bit of kit comes with two parts. The first is a flash drive (its like a plug that goes into the computer and acts like a memory card) but it has a difference. At one end you have a plug that fits into the computer. At the other a tiny slot that will fit something called a "Micro SD card". The other bit of kit is a DS cartridge that will fit into your DS, once again with a tiny slot that will fit the marvelous tiny card. To get a Cyclo DS go to their website and they willtell you how you can buy one.
On top of the Cyclo DS you will need to buy the Micro SD Card but good retailers will usually offer a deal of buy the Cyclo DS, get the SD free/cheap. You will be looking at around £40.00 for the kit but with one payment of £40, you will get any DS game, old or new, for free. You may end up saving money and having more to show for it.
Now that you have waited, patiently I hope, for 2-7 days for your kit to arrive, you get cracking. All you have to do is put the flash drive into computer with the tiny SD card inserted in the back, click and drag the .nds file into the flash drive and remove the SD card and place into the back of the DS cartridge provided by Cyclo.
Turn on and play!
Ladies and gentlemen I thank you for reading a silver surfer's slightly longwinded excuse for a guide and hope that you think that just because grandparents can't find the glasses that are perching on their foreheads, doesn't mean that they don't know diddly squat about computers.
Finally please remember that this process is not strictly legal and I actively suggest that although it is a faceless crime and very seductive, ummm something, something, somtehing.
Well boys and girls, good gaming to you all
