Question about Toshiba 50HX81 50" Rear Projection Television
When I turn on my TV it is blurry across the screen, kinda freeky like then it will slowly clear up as it gets warmer it takes a while. Then it works. if I do not turn off the tv it s ok,
Most of the Toshiba sets of this age had problems with a board inside that gives lines/noise left to right for several minutes and then clears up--as time goes on the warmup takes longer and longer---bad Hyper board with about 10 tiny surface mounted filter caps that dry out.
Part is not available and two options--either have a shop repair it or try it yourself---takes above average skill to remove board and replace all ten caps.
Shops will if they will attempt this usually get over 200 for the repair.
