This TV won't support 1080!

I have been dealing with Time Warner Cable and my cable box and this TV. It seems that the 1080i will show up for a monent or while and then the tv just goes blank. Several techs and boxes have been brought out and nothing has worked. I called Hyundai and they told me there could not be a problem with the tv it is the cable co's issue with signals. Well all has been looked at and still today they came out booted it all back up and put on 1080i. It will run a little while and then go blank. It worked fine on 1080i for months. I got the cable upgrade in October 2006 and the problem started ~ March 2007. It works on 480i. Also, along with this is anmother problem that the picture will freeze at times and I have to turn the tv on and off to get it back up. Thanks you for helping me out!

    I have read both manuals for the time warner cable box and the 46x sceptre hdtv and I follow the directions- turn cable off, press menu and the white configuration screen appears. I set it to the specs ( 1080I and 16:9) and it shrinks the tv to 4:3and still looks the same. Kind of like an old crt monitor. I just need a solution. I am about to send this tv back and pay a little more for a better one. I really don't want to.

It is a problem from Time Warner. They told me that it was my cost to replace the 35 year old cables outside of my house. I told them wrong..I am going to Direct TV. But, what do I do with the test box the cable guy left at my house???? Although they "kiled it", it still is a test box and worth $$$

I have this same TV, and cable from Comcast (which uses the same Motorola Box as Time Warner). Are you using component output from you CATV box, or HDMI to DVI. Your TV has two component inputs and one DVI input, but no HDMI input directly. If you use component, you must do two things. 1. The TV is auto-sensing as to the input signal, and will work with 1080i, 720p, 480p or 480i. Make sure you have a good grade component cable. 2. On your CATV box, turn the power off with the remote, then within 3 seconds press 'MENU'. This will give you a screen where you can specify the output from your CATV. I suggest 1080i, but 720p works fine, too. If you are using the DVI input, then you must be using an HDMI to DVI converter cable or adapter. To make this work -- THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT -- you must set the CATV box to HDMI output, not DVI. Use the same process as described above, but make sure your HDMI/DVI cable is connected, and you have selected the DVI input on the TV. Otherwise, you won't get the proper menu on the CATV box. BTW, the prior suggestion is not the problem -- low signal from the cable company would cause the picture to pixelate, but not lose sync. However, both problems COULD be caused by a defective CATV box. If they haven't already replaced the CATV box, tell them to do so immediately or you will call DIRECTV!!

Low or poor signal from the cable company. Try another signal source such as a DVD play.

My tv only shows 720p and i am not sure how to adjust it to 1080p ={

You have to adjust the settings on whatever is connected to your television. If you have a bluray player connected to your television with an hdmi cable you should be able to receive 1080p but you have to set the bluray player to 1080i. The tv picks up the signal automatically. From your cable box or satellite tv box you cannot get any more than 1080i from television programs at this time. You can get 1080p from bluray on demand. In certain circumstances you can get 1080p over component cables as well as an hdmi cable but in most cases you will only get 1080i. Once again you have to set your connected device to 1080 to get it on your tv

HDTV CABLE NOT HOOKED UP/WORKING

COMP 1 and 2 are for 480i/p sources. Hook it to the 1080i capable on the back. Also make sure the HD DVR is outputting 1080i not 720p. The Mits can not disply 720p and will show a scrambled screen if you try to.

KP-53HS10 Real HD

On this TV there is only one input for any HD resolution. Input # 5 is the component input i.e. red/green/blue cable. Just get the correct cable and match colors from cable box to TV this will allow the TV to display 1080i resolution ( only one this TV supports ). FYI you will also have to connect the red and white cables to the appropriate inputs to get any sound because red/green/blue connectors are just for video display not sound. Once your connected you'll be able to access video # 5 be sure to set your cable box to 1080i resolution also. I hope this helps later J.

Philips 32pt television screen format off center, to the left

For me it was the cable box settings...

I'm not a tech person, so take this for what its worth. I had the same problem with my Vizio and my Time Warner Cable HD/DVR box using the HDMI cord connection. HD channels were always fine, and non HD channels were fine until I went to an HD channel and back. When switching back, the non-HD channels would be shifted to the left as you describe. After much back and forth with both Vizio and Time Warner (each saying its caused by the other), I stumbled across the following fix...

I went into the cable box (scientific atlanta 8300) "settings", under "display," under "output resolution." There was a list including 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and "auto select." I unchecked both 480 options and left 720 and 1080 checked. Problem solved. The other "Display" menu settings are as follows: Picture Size = Stretch, Aspect Ratio = 16x9.

Hope this helps.
