Front Right Large Burner Wouldn't Boil, Now won't heat at all

The front right large burner on my GE Electric Stove would not boil water; just slow heat. I had noticed sparks (small) on it a day or two ago. I tried the other large burner in this socket and it seems to heat from the middle slightly, but that's it. I did notice a crack in the wire for the front burner. How do I fix this?

SOURCE: Replacing oven burner element, the lower element, for a GE stove

(I think it is 50 watts or volts??)
Most electric ranges are supplied with 220 volts - this is, especially at 60 Hz, deadly. You were lucky this time.
If the wires are not welded onto the element contacts, they might be so-called 'quick-disconnects' that pull straight off of blades that are part of the elelment.
You probably haven't hurt the range with the momentary short circuit since the chassis of the range is connected to neutral or ground so you just gave your breaker a workout. BTW, I have had to replace late breakers after they tripped. They wouldn't stay reset any more even after the problem was removed from the circuit. Don't be surprised if yours doesn't stay reset; it may not be a fault causing it.

SOURCE: There is heat, but not nearrrrrly what it should be

That is what I would do. Be sure to remove the power plug before doing any kind of work on the elements or wiring. If the element is a 'plug-in' device, the repair is simple. But if the element connections are buried in the oven back, it requires more careful work. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: WE have a GE Stove top Range. The burners aren't

If you have power to the stove as in the oven light works and the clock works but the burners and oven will not work you only have 120 volts coming to the stove. The stove requires 240 volts for the burners and oven to work. Check the service panel for a blown fuse. There will be 2 fuses in the fuse holder. One of them is blown. If that is not the case then one of the wires has come loose either in the service panel or in the outlet behind the stove. Use a multimeter to check the input voltage at the outlet.

My burner gets excessively hot very quickly is this normal?

Hi,

That right front burner is an extremely hot burner by design. It is sold as a quick power burner. The rating on it is 12,000 btu's meaning it could easily boil a pot of soup in that time.

Here is a quote from the owners manual for your range

"There is a 12,000 BTU*
burner located in the right front position. These burners offer
higher speed cooking that can be used to quickly bring water
to a boil and for large-quantity cooking."

Use the back for slower smaller cooking and front for larger and quick heating.

I hope that helps.

If you saw a spark from the burner chances are that the burner has shorted out and is in need of replacement.

Small burner of dual surface(right front) stopped working.

Does yours have the (small large burner switch)? If so, try switching it back and forth. It could be defective or your small burner element is bad.

Electric starter for Electric stove

I think you mean you have a gas range with electric ignition. When you turn a burner to light, all burners should spark. The most common problem is boil overs have happened on those two burners. Take the burner head off for sealed burner ranges and clean them out. For non sealed burners, the little holes toward the center side of the burners need to be cleaned. You don't have a model listed, so I can't be real specific.

Burner on range will not turn off

Look at the back of your range there should be schemetic for your power control board. look for defective burner wire going into relay. There should be 5 relays in rows. Realy is the problem. I had the same problem with my front left burner stuck on high.
After replacing everything works okay.
