Wireless failure Trying to set up new 8870DW using wireless. I have Vista and XP laptops which network properly with each other when wired but do not see each other at all using wireless. Wirelessly they both reach the internet normally. They both can see my Meraki antenna repeater device which is wired into my router. The 8870DW control panel can see the meraki device. Neither computer can see the 8870. The Pro suite is installed and the 8870 is listed but it does not print or indicate that a job was pending. I would think I should be able to print regardless of the Vista/XP problem. Is the 8870 problem related to my Vista/XP wireless network problem? Is there any way for the machine to print it's internal settings such as IP address etc. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If the computers cannot connect by wireless to the net work it is unlikely they will connect to the printer. right click on the network icon in the systray (lower right hand side of the window) and select diagnose and repair from the list on each computer... it will either fix the network or hopefully tell you what is wrong

Hi,

It seems that you are using usb connection to install your router. This error happens, to some, due to incompatibility issues. I suggest for you to set your wireless network by way of general steps and common cable connections. Let's put it, the old ways. This are the general steps for all types of routers.

Click the link below for proper cable connections in setting up your wireless network.

This link also provides somewhat a checklist on what you need for wireless connectivity

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/wireless.mspx

Then, configure your wireless connection. The following links provides the step by step instructions for each version of Windows:

Windows XP. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/wlan_client_configure.mspx?mfr=true

Windows Vista. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Setting-up-a-wireless-network

Windows 7. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Setting-up-a-wireless-network

Internet Connection Problem on One Computer

By any chance, are you trying to use something other than Windows to manage the wireless adapter? If you are, remove it.

Now, Click on Start, right click on Network highlight properties, and click on manage network connections on the Tasks menu.
Your two options will be the icons for your LAN and Wireless Network. Is it enabled and without red or yellow marks? It could be disable, it could be not connected and you can't view wireless networks because the switch is off, or it may just nut see your unsecure network (unlikely).

If the above is clear, right click on the wireless and highlight Properties and left click so it brings up the Networking tab. Highlight IPv4 and click on Properties. Make sure the Obtain dots are ticked. That should work, since you are running unsecured.
If it already is, check the red X or if it isn't click OK and close down the box.

Now, back to where your Wireless card is showing, right click it and you have Disable, Connect/Disconnect, Status, Diagnose etc.

If you're still Disconnected but not Disabled, click on Connect/Disconnect. Does it show your wireless network?

By this time, it should. If it doesn't post back. The other possibility is that you take your computer to a wireless internet cafe, McDonalds, Panera Bread, or motel with WiFi and test it there.

Problem with downloading router driver/firmware

You don't need software for the router. Is your wireless encrypted or open? Just view avaiable networks with your xp machine and choose your network to connect to. If you do have an encrypted signal use the vista machine and type in the ip address to the router in your browser window. I think belkins router ip is 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1 Hope this helps, let me know

Unable to connect my wifi laptop to my existing wireless b/band

Your wife's laptop is setup to connect to another wireless network. It must be set up now for the wireless network that you are trying to connect to. This means that your wife's laptop is trying to connect to the wireless network somewhere else. You need to let the laptop look for available wireless networks. It should be able to see your wireless network. It will then require you to enter the password that you have set in your Zyxel. If you don't know the password, call Zyxel.

Dg 834g router

is this a wireless network?

are you trying to retrieve SECURITY codes, or just basic network settings?

your best bet is probably to log into the router, from the vista laptop, rather than looking at the settings the vista laptop is currently using...

on the vista laptop, open a webbrowser, and type in the ip address for your router.

that is PROBABLY 192.168.0.1

the username is PROBABLY admin
the password is PROBABLY "password"

from there, if you click on wireless settings, it should show you all the details you need.

did the people who set this network up for you leave any information about username, password, ip addresses, anything like that?
