Rival 6-cup rice cooker does not work

The product has been working fine for more than a year, recently it stopped working. I have enough rice and water on the recipient, and also the electric outlet has been tested ok with another appliance. I press down the switch but the COOK light does not turn on. I unscrewed and removed the bottom plate and tested the mechanical system and seems to work properly making contacts as (I think) expected. SO I think there is something wrong with the electrical parts. I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to test, check, remove the electrical components. thanks

I have had THREE different cookers over the past year and ALL THREE have done the exact same thing. It has to be electrical and I suspect it blows an internal fuse...then it is no longer working. This is awful. I would never recomend it to anyone.

Mine just did as well today. Thought I blew a fuse, but no, just not working, although it did finish the pot of rice.

Sounds like the Thermal Fuse inside is blown unscrew the 2 screws on bottom of the cooker you should see a small 2.5 inch insulation wrapped wire leaving a ceramic mounting block to one of the element poles. Now you take off the nut and unscrew it from the pole. Cut off the insulation and underneath will be a Thermal Fuse. If you have a Ohm Meter or a continuity tester attach each lead to either side and it probably will test negative. Part # is written on the Thermal Fuse. Probably a

It is a blown thermal fuse. On 6-cup Rival it is across terminal where power comes into cooker. You can replace thermal fuse for less than a dollar in under an hour. Remove the bottom of the cooker. The thermal fuse is covered by a heat wrap sleeve across input terminal.

I lost the measuring cup. Can I use a regular measuring cup? If so, what amount would I use? For 1 cup, 2 cups,or 3 cups? I'm sure there is a solution. Thanks.

1 cup of rice in the rival cup does NOT equal 1 cup of rice in a regular measuring cup. I lost mine too and I've found that using 3/4 cup of a regular measuring cup works with the lines on the inside of the pot

Rice cooker lid replacement?

if you still have the reciept the best thing that i would suggest is to take it back to the store or call the manufacturer and they will send you out another under warranty cause there should be a 1 year warranty on the unit.

I lost the instruction manual for my Rival 6 cup rice steamer. I need the ratio of water to rice.

Welcome to FixYa. My name is Max and I'm the expert who chose your situation to fix. If you find my solution satisfactory, please award me a "FixYa" rating. Now for your question.

All of the rice cooker makers advise: a 2:1 ratio That is, 2 cups of water for every cup of rice.

Thanks again for using FixYa!

Rival 6 cup Rice Cooker Instructions

you should have a "lever: you push down to cook and it will "pop" up when the rice is finshed, your cooker holds 6 Cups cooked rice, use 2 cups medium grain rice/ 3 cups water this should yeild you 6 cups of cooked rice, let sit about 4 min after the lever pops up to allow rice to finish steaming

No instrution manual

You are an *******....Just to be blunt....This person is asking how to cook the rice to water ration in the rival 6 cup rice cooker and that ratio is like other ways to cook rice, which you are completely wrong about maybe you should take some lessons on how to cook. Its 1 PART RICE TO 2 PARTS WATER....NOT EQUAL, and in the cooker its 2 cups rice and 4 cups water makes a perfect pot!
