I just got a Kodak 5500 All in One Printer. When setting it up, I got an attention message, saying "paper jam" Clear jam and press OK to continue. There was no paper in the tray to jam. It would not turn off, I had to disconnect power. Then the printer head will not go back to center. It tries, but is like stuck. I called the Kodak support and after walking me through several things, he said they would send me a replacement, because the carriage is defected apparently and said for me to return this one in the box they send the replacement one in. However, I see like some styrofoam in the back and wondered if this was part of the packing, but he said no. So I am at a loss and very UPSET, I just unpacked it. Also the printer access door is very hard to close.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your Kodak printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.
Fix 'Carriage Jam: Open Door, clear carriage jam, and then press OK to continue' error message
Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck. Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side. Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Remove the ink from the print head and FIRMLY press the printhead in until you feel and hear a click, replace inks. The foam should be removed, no tape or foam will be left after preparing for use.

Thanks, but we already had reset the printerhead and reset the ink cartridges and they all clicked as they were supposed to but, it is difficult when the printer head will not locate to the center as it is supposed to do. And it still shows paper jam, and there is not any paper in the trays or anywhere in the printer.
