using a small pipe wrench on ck valve body unscrew it by using ends of valve itself (lefty loosly) make sure to install new one with arrow pointing towards tank (important) and use a bit of teflon tape on threads to act as a seal take care not to crush body with wrench as this will affect valve working try and only use wrench on ends of valve
check oil level in unit as over full will over heat oil. It is possible that there is a failing bearing or bush. Check outlet pipes for blockages from carbon build up from un burnt sump oil.
The low oil sensor is on the front of the block the wires are attached to ur start stop switch. It has two wires yellow and black on most models. the sensor itself is internal
30W Non-Detergent. You can get it at hardware stores or tool stores. You can go with synthetic if you like, but if you don't run it too hard, regular oil is fine.
Are you sure its the oil filter? it could be the oil filter gasket, some models/ not all vw have a second gasket seperate from the oil filter itsself, the other thing is the oil could be leaking from the top of the engine but then dripping off the filter making you think that, that is the cause.
Is the oil filter to the rear of the engine or up front? what model, year and engine size? Regards Dan
If you're sure its not just a bad oil pressure gauge, and there is no pressure, the oil pump is probably bad. If you don't run it hard, it may still last awhile, running more like a "splash lube" compressor. Still, if this is a pressure lubed Quincy, it's a good compressor - I'd fix the oil pump and it'll last for years.
