Onkyo HT-SR800 won't turn on

My Onkyo HT-SR800 has gone dead. One night the standby switch starting blinking and the unit would immediately power off when I tried to turn it on. I unplugged it per troubleshooting guide and when I plugged it back in no power at all. Standby light is off. Any suggestions.

If you call Onkyo directly, 201-785-2600, there is a procedure to "reset" the system, something like holding the power button on and holding down another button for a few seconds. Can't remember which, so I can't be sure, but try giving them a call.

Onkyo HT-R320 Audio Video Receiver. Is there any hard reset feature

Question edited to correct all the typos!

Onkyo support suggested I reset the unit by holding the video 1 button while pressing power to reset to factory default, which according to the Tech will reset the Logic controls of the unit.

Onkyo ht-rc180 standby light blinks will not start.i tryed factory reset, still blinks

The amp protection circuit has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall outlet immediately. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect the power cord and reconnect an input and a pair of speaker wires onto the unit. If the receiver still does not turn on than you will have to bring it in for service. Turn up the volume and if the receiver doesn't shut down, power off the receiver and add another pair of speakers. Power up the unit again and turn up the volume. If it doesn't shut down, power off the unit again. Now connect all your input sources and turn on your receiver. If the unit shuts down again, your unit will need to be further serviced at an authorized Onkyo service center.

Trips and switches off

Hello Fixya customer,

Thank you for your question.

The best way to fully isolate the fault is to disconnect all the speaker wires, and verify that there are no strands of wire shorting between the speaker terminals on the rear of the unit.

Turn the volume all the way down, full CCW, and if it goes into shut down with the STBY light blinking then there is a fault in one of the amplifier's.

Thank you for using Fixya, and if I can be of further assistance please ask.

Onkyo HT-SR800 the surround speakers are not blasting

I had the same problem and fixed it by manually setting the surround speakers changing the Level Cal to +12dB. You will immediately notice a significant increase in volume and may need to back down on the dB's. What a diffence it makes!

Cutting off and stayin in Stand by mode

To me it sounds like you might have blown a channel(s). The speakers that you are using with unit, did they come with it? If not you need to check the ohms of the speakers. It looks like the Onkyo HT-SR800 can only handle a minimum of 8 ohms. If your unit is under warranty definately send it in for repair

CORRECT SETUP CODE FOR RECEIVER

Should work, though. This will provide a power toggle function to the Power key.

Use red numbers for the red OK/Select button remote, grey numbers for grey button remtoes.
Temporarily assign setup code 30842 or 0842 to AUX
1) Tap AUX
2) Press Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 30842 or 0842The remote should blink twice

Assign NEC1 IR protocol device 210, subdevice 108, function number 203 to Power (you don't need to understand these numbers)
1) Press Setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 994 (2 blinks)
3) Tap Setup
4) Enter 00051
5) Tap Power (not All On)
The remote should blink twice

Assign setup code 30135 or 0135 to AUX (this is NEC1, 210.109)
1) Tap AUX
2) Press Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 30135 or 0135
The remote should blink twice
