Problem with the GoGear SA2620/02

Hi, I have a problem with the GoGear SA2620/02 2 gigabytes After switching on the button only appears the inscription "PHILIPS" and turn off. I tried to repair the Philips Device Manager, but the software only wrote "Failed to Update the Firmware on Device". You do not have any advice on how to try to fix it? Thank you very much for all the advice. Peter

My volume button broke

1 Reset your GoGear with something sharp like the tip of a pen or the end of a paper clip, if you're device isn't working properly or there's a frozen display. Insert the sharp object into the "Reset" hole (located at the bottom of the player), and hold it there until the device turns off. If resetting the device does nothing to restore the display, access the "Philips Device Manager" through your computer to recover the GoGear.

2 Click "Start" on your computer, then "Programs," "Philips Digital Audio Player," "Aria Device Manager," and then "Philips Device Manager." This will launch the "Philips Device Manager." Make sure the GoGear is turned off completely. Connect your GoGear to your computer while holding down the "Volume Up" button. Continue to hold the "Volume Up" button on your GoGear, until the "Philips Device Manager" recognizes the device and enters recovery mode. Click the "Repair" button when it appears on your computer, then follow the steps to fully recover the GoGear. Properly disconnect your GoGear from your computer and restart the device.

3 Recharge your device if your GoGear dies suddenly while playing. Connect the GoGear to your computer via the supplied USB cord. Plug one end of the USB cord into a functional, open USB port on your computer. Plug the free, smaller end of the USB cord firmly into the small USB jack on your GoGear and turn your computer on. This will begin the charging process of your GoGear. If recharging doesn't work, the battery may need to be replaced. Check that your GoGear isn't in standby mode. Hold the "Power" button for two seconds to turn it back on.

Hi .. I sure hope you mean, that font text using Google Translate. I have mp4 GoGear Ariaz SA2ARA08K/02 8 gigabytes. Every video which needs to give me can not be played. I tried them and convert the...

Hi Stan,

You need to transfer the videos using Philips songbird to avoid any playback issues. Make sure that you also have the latest version quicktime and Windows media player 11 or higher installed on your computer before installing the Songbird.

You can download and install quicktime from:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Here is the link to download latest version of Songbird:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?tmplt=ePlatform%20-%20Philips&scy=US&slg=AEN&sct=FLASH_AUDIO_PLAYER_SU&cat=MP3_MEDIA_PLAYERS_CA&session=20110303035416_125.18.127.111&grp=SOUND_AND_VISION_GR&ctn=SA2ARA08K/17&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software

You need to transfer the Videos to the Songbird library and then transfer them to your player. Here is how to transfer files from songbird to your MP3 player:
1. Click "File" in the toolbar and select "Import Media". Choose the folder that stored your media files.
2. Select the media files that you want to transfer and then Right Click to display a drop list (You can press and hold the Ctrl button on the keyboard to select more than one file).
3. Select "Add to Device" and "(Your player model)".
Or you need to go to Songbird library and then drag and drop the files to your MP3 player's icon on the Songbird software.

Dosn`t want too start

What I would do is open your mp3 player through my computer and copy all your music, photos, and viideos onto your computer. Then I would go and download the firmwear from the manufacture and reflash your player. That will set it back to the factory settings.

Cant get mp3 to turn on

Try holding in the volume + button and reconnecting it to your computer. Continue holding the volume + button in until the "found new hardware" wizard comes on. NOTE: if you hold the volume + in for longer than 1 minute and no hardware wizard appears, this strategy will not work with your version of Windows.

WARNING: this process will erase all songs off the GoGear.
Disconnect the GoGear from computer.
Turn the GoGear off.
Hold in the volume + button.
Reconnect the GoGear while holding in the volume + button.
Continue holding the volume + button.
After 5-50 seconds, Windows will pop-up a "Found New Hardware Wizard." - complete the wizard (BTW, you can take your hand ff the volume + button now).
Good To Go (Gear)!

GoGear SA178 MP3 Player

Try installing the version of the software on the Philips website (more up to date).

If that fails:
Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

PHILIPS GOGEAR 6GB

The same thing happened to me. I contacted Philips and they sent me this solution, which worked for me. Question My GoGear has no power/no display even connected to the power supply with the AC adapter. What should I do? Answer Do a soft reset by pressing and holding the Power On/OFF button and the volume + key for a couple of seconds. Then connect your GoGear to a power outlet with the AC Adapter to charge the player again for around 30 minutes. Try turning the unit back on and see if the display appears. If the display is able to come on again, keep the player connected for another 3-4 hours until it is fully charged before use, else contact our Customer Care Center for assistance.
