Hook up Cox Dig CBL Box to receiver and TV for home theater

I have a surround sound home theater set up a year ago with a new LG 37 (LC7D) and a Yamaha HTR 6060 receiver and a DVD player (also a Yamaha) DV-C6860.
I picked up a new COX Digital cable Box and an trying to figure out how to hook it up (I did not get a Digital Video Recorder so dont need info on that).

I also have a Yamaha remote RAV326 to control it all which isnt the greatest but it works, COX sent a remote that may be better.

Cox also sent a 5 wire cable (3 video and 2 audio in the normal colors or R_B_G video and R_W audio). They also sent two short coax cables.

what is the best way to hook this up to get best sound avoiding TV speakers? The lousy manual only shows how to hook it up using either a direct hookup to the TV or a hookup thru the DVRecorder which I didnt acquire).

Thanks for your help. I wanted to watch some bowl games using HD but so far I struck out making it work.

Yes, the inputs are on the back of the COX Digital Receiver.

Let me clarify. Both the Cox cable Box and the Yamaha Receiver have inputs on the back.

The easiest way to proceed is by using RCA cables (the red, white, yellow) to connect the cable box.

Use the Video input panel on the HTR6060, if you watch at the backpanel it should be on the upper right hand corner.

There chose if to use RCA, component or svideo, and connect input from cable box and output to TV.

Refer to page 15 on manual:

I have a 42 in LG HDTV and a dish satellite and a LG surround sound system how to I hook these up to hear sound while watching the sat

See if your satellite receiver has a digital out socket in the back ( optic / coaxial ). If so get yourself an optic/coaxial cable and link the TV out to your LG Home Theaters optic/coaxial In.
Now if your Satellite receiver does not have a digital out for sound you will have to connect the TV's audio out to the LG Home Theater Systems Aux / SAT / CBL input using appropriate cables .Either 3.5mm phono to 2RCA or 2 RCA to 2 RCA cables.

Hi, I am having trouble hooking up my new LG home theatre system with my Rogers cable. I connected the home theatre system to the TV with an HDMI cable. The sound works with watching DVDs on TV and...

To listen to Tv program sound through your home theater system you will have to connect a pair of RCA to RCA cables (Red and White pair ) from the audio out socket of the TV ( some times three sockets Yellow/Red/White labeled Monitor out. Ignore the yellow as it is video out ) to the Aux or CBL/Sat input of the LG system. Then to listen to the sound through your LG HT system switch the Input selector of the LG to Aux or CBL/SAT. Will work for sure.

I have a LG LHB335 Blu-Ray home theater system, & a LG TV I can get Full surround sound when the blu-ray is play a DVD but not when just watching Reg TV. I use a HDMI, should I hook up sonething else ?...

LG documentation states:

When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to

connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.

Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.

If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.

My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)

My tuner will not set up on the TV/CBL for sound. I get a beautiful picture no sound?

Your Cable Box should have a nice digital audio output that's compatible with the Yamaha (model ??). Then you might have to assign the digital input so you can select it with, say, TV on th receiver.

Hooking up the RT 2600

connect all the devices into the receiver inputs then there should be 1 set of outputs to the tv. This is to play everything using surround sound as all the video and audio is going through your recevier... if you want to do HD and have surround sound you will need a new receiver as this one has no hdmi inputs or outputs.
