DELL PRECISION M50 POWER CHARGING LIGHT ON BUT WON'T TURN ON

I Have a Dell precision m50 with dvd, floppy and floppy drives. wasn't used for awhile approx 4 months. i plugged in the ac cable and the charging light on laptop flashes that it charging. i opened up the lid and turned on power all the indicator lights come on but then they all go out and the screen never comes on. I don't hear any noises (beeps or hard drive or dvd spinning.) let it charge overnite and nothing changed. what is problem and is it fixable. - thanks lloyd

Try reseating the processor. Go to Dell.com and download repair manual. I have seen this same 3 lights a couple of times on c840's (same machine) when I forgot to lock the processor cam in place...

Hi Peter, well the good news is the batter is very cheap and easily spotted (if you can find a highly waxed green caterpillar shaped piece - that will be your CMOS battery). Google image Dell Precision M50 battery and you'll find plenty. Looks like the connectors are fairly straight forward to work with
Remember to have the laptop off and away from the mains - and wear an anti static wrist if possible. Regards

Dell precision m50 will not boot i push the power button and it comes on then goes right back off i have removed everything and tried and still nothing the ac adapter is working correctly

Have you tried it with the AC adapter plugged in? it could be your battery is no longer holding any charge and may need to be replaced

How to disable touch pad for dell precision m4500 model?

Please go to Control Panel->System->HW->Device Manager. Click on the Mouse and Other Pointing Devices. Select the Touch Pad and from Action in menu select properties. In Advanced option her you can disable the touch pad.

Can't get my Dell Precision M50 Laptop video to fill the screen at 1024 768 resolution. Video will only fill the screen when I set resolution to 1600 1200. Is there something wrong with my video card?

1024x768 is a native wide-screen resolution. more than likely your video card is fine and your notebook monitor does not support that format without shrinking the top and bottom which defeats the purpose of filling the whole screen. plug the kappy into an external widescreen monitor or TV and it will work at 1024x768.

hello, it seems like the only thing you haven't tried is to reset BIOS by taking out the battery from the board. since you have reseated everthing else i am assuming that you are comforatble opening up you laptop.
open it one more time and remove the battery from the board (some of these batteries are now soldered so you may need soldering iron)and leave it out for about atleast 10mins.

remove external peripherals. remove battery. use ac adapter alone. check if ac adapter has sufficient power or check if ac adapter led is solid green or blue. if not then ac adapter might not giving laptop enough power to power up.
if ac adapter led stays on but some problem check the ac adapter - laptop pin socket if loose or damage. if not then replace mobo.
