Vertical lines of stuck pixels

Our Sharp is several years old and suddenly is showing several (dozens at least) of dead pixels. Sometimes it's not too bad (still several on the screen), some times it looks like The Matrix. Problem showed up all of a sudden. Don't seem to be dead (black) seem to be stuck. Most seem to be white, so it's most apparent on a black screen, such as on TV power up when the component for that input isn't on.

If a LCD TV has vertical or horizontal lines, in most of the case the problem is a defective LCD panel.

yes and no. That particular tv you have is done for, but if you just purchased it 6 months ago, you are still within you 1 year warranty with sharp. they will ask you to take it to a authorized service center and you need to follow through with the process. about a week or 2 will pass and the service center will deem the unit unrepairable and sharp will replace it if they cant solve the problem. give em call..good luck 2u

You must contact a svc co. This is a upper or lower buffer board problem and possibly a control board. Nothing you have done wrong, it just happened.

How to Fix the Vertical Line on your sharp lc-32d43u LCD TV

Is it true that when one pixel goes out, others are soon to follow?

No, that's not true at all. Each pixel is its only little device - one pixel does not effect another. The pixels work together to make a picture, but are all controlled separately. If your pixel is "stuck" and not dead, then you may be able to fix it! A stuck pixel is red, blue, green or white, while a dead pixel will show up as black. Sometimes a stuck pixel can be fixed by covering a pencil eraser with a cloth and pushing down on the pixel gently while the TV is on. So, in summary - no, one bad pixel doesn't mean any other pixels are bad. Hope that helps, Alex

Hi, i have AL1716 monitor (2 year old). Recently, there is a blue vertical line which appears on and off sometimes in the monitor. Can anyone suggest on a solution

Is the vertical line always at one location ? (on the screen)
If so, it appears that the video card/driver (on your PC or laptop) may be causing the line to appear occasionally ... i.e. flaky ... and it will likely fail (completely) in due time. To confirm it's the video card, try using another monitor (long enough) to see if it happens.
[ The line may also be caused by "dead" pixel on the screen ... but this usually happens on randomly located pixels on the screen, not on one vertical line. But, it may also be a possibility ... in which case, using a different monitor may prove it one way or the other ]

I have a vertical black line on sharp lc-52xd1e is this dead pixels?

It means an addressing transistor for one column of pixels is dead. It can probably be repaired. It would be statistically unlikely for more than a couple of pixels to die over the lifetime of a set.

Blue vertical line

The lines appearing on your LCD means it has a defect on the screen.

There are 3 types of pixel defect
1) dead pixel - pixel is always off
2) stuck pixel - pixel is always on
3) hot pixel - pixel is on but in red, green, blue or yellow, can also be a light black color

You can try to fix stuck or hot pixels but dead is dead.
1st method, flashing different colors rapidly:
JSScreenfix.com has a great tool. This is their free java applet or you can download it below.

2nd method, applying pressure to pixel:
Damp paper towel, Small stylus or dull pencil.

3rd method, tapping the pixel:
Pen with cover on or another small, blunt object.

If your laptop is still under warranty, get it replaced. If not you are looking at the most expensive part in a laptop to get replaced. (LCD screens on laptop is roughly equivalent to 40-60% of the total laptop cost

Please rate this if it this helps.

Pink vertical line

From what you discribe it sounds like you have a row of dead pixels.

You can use this website to test for dead pixels:
http://www.gdargaud.net/Hack/DeadPixels.html

If you run the test and confirm that you have dead pixels, contact the laptop's manufacturer for support.

A line of Dead Pixels.

You are right it is a stuck or dead pixel, usually if it is a colred line but not grey it is a stuck pixel at the beginning of the line you can try a utility designed to flash bright colors repetedly over time to see if this will "unstick" it. Also you could have a dry joint on your TCP which would require opening it up to diagnose.
