Hello Jake,
As it seems that your answer was a scan of the manual:
do you have the users' manual to the EL-512 in digital form and are you willing to share it?

SOURCE: I need to change the time on my Sharp EL-1750PIII calculator

You can access the .pdf manual for your particular calculator here:

http://www.sharpusa.com/files/cal_man_EL1750PIII.pdf

Page 1 for how to set date/time:

“RATE SET”: To set the date, time, and tax rate, set this switch at the “RATE SET” position.
Date:
• Enter in the order of month, day and year, then press to complete the entry.
• Use to separate month, day, and year.
• When is pressed, the number entered is evaluated and displayed as “date” if the
value is within the following range; “Error” is displayed otherwise, and the previously set
date is restored.
Month: 1 - 12; day: 1 - 31; Year: 2000 - 2099 (in 4 digits) or 00 - 99 (in 2 digits)
Time:
• Enter in the order of hour, minutes, then press to complete the entry.
(There is no entry available for the seconds value. The clock starts at zero second.)
• If the hour/minute digit is less than 10, it is not necessary to enter the first digit “0”.
• Use to separate hour and minute values.
• When is pressed, the number entered is evaluated and displayed as “time” if the
value is within the following range; “Error” is displayed otherwise, and the previously set
time is restored.
Hour: 0 - 23 (24-hour system for the hour entry), Minute: 0 - 59

Manual Sharp EL-512 please

There is a PDF version of the manual for the original Sharp EL-512 Scientific Calculator available for download from http://striegels.com/alan/sharp. Just click on the image of the manual front cover.
Be warned, this is a high-resolution scan of all pages and is not text-searchable. The size of the PDF file is over 13 MBytes. As this was printed in 1981 and there is no copyright page, it may be copied freely.

HOw to change FSE code on Sharp Advanced D.A.L. EL-531X

Hi there,

To change the FSE code on your SHARP calculator press SETUP and choose 0. FIX means that it shows you all the decimal places. SCI is scientific notation, ENG changes the scientific notation in groups of 3's. NORM1 and NORM2 are your normal number ranges, however norm2 starts from zero and anything negative will be written in scientific notation.

Have a sharp EL-506w calculator i have ten zeros on the screen it will do problems but it s a bunch of zeros behind it it aiso says x10 in small context at the far right side bottom of the screen.

Your calculator is set to display in scientific notation. To change it, press SETUP 1 then choose the desired mode. For most purposes you'll probably want Floating Point. For more details see the third column of the first page of the manual.

How to I stop my sharp EL-531X calculator from rounding when converting from decimal to scientific notation?

You need to select the number of decimal places you would like, or if you would like the calculator to behave as normal. Press SET UP and select FSE (press 1) . You now have 5 options.
0: FIX means you can choose a fixed number of decimal places for every calculation.
1: SCI means scientific notation and choose the number of significant values you would like to deal with.
2: ENG means engineering and the power goes up in multiples of 3.
3: NORM1 and 4: NORM2 are the usual or normal settings on the calculator. Most school calculations will use NORM1 mode.

Hi, I just bought a calculator model# EL-501W ( by SHARP) and i can't figure out how to plug in #'s in scientific notation? Can you please give me instructions on how to do that??

Without knowing the specific type of scientific notation you are trying to enter, there is no way to give you accurate information. Here is where you can download the manual from...

http://www.usersmanualguide.com/sharp/calculator/el-501w

if you provide additional information, perhaps I can provide a more detailed answer.

Good luck.
