Onkyo ht-r530 subwoofer stopped working

I have an onkyo ht-r530 and the subwoofer stopped working one day when i was listening loud. I can get sound to come out of the sub with a different reciever, but not my ht-r530. is there a subwoofer fuse that may be replaced inside the reciever? any reply at all would be very welcome. i would much prefer to fix it myself. Thanks in advance, Zach M

SOURCE: Amp Protection Mode

no, your output transistors maybe 2 of them are gone or the small power supply that feeds the other circuitry has become defective.

SOURCE: Onkyo Subwoofer Pre Out Problem

May not necessarily be the out put, discontect the sub from the receiver and see if it still makes a hum, Making sure that you turn auto on, off on the sub woffer.
If it still makes a hum, then you have a earthing problem, you can get a earth filter put on your internal wiring in your home, or you can remove the earth pin on your sub woffer

SOURCE: Onkyo HT-R530 with powered speakers

I would not suggest hooking up powered speakers to your receiver. Only if unit has sub woofer output can you hook up powered speaker

SOURCE: No sound from Sub Pre-out on Onkyo TX-SR606

Also, it could possibly the preout terminal itself that is not working. One way to prove that is by transferring the subwoofer cable from the preout and temporarily transfer it to the tape out section. If it ouputs sound from there, then that means the speaker and the cables are working fine and it's just the preout terminal itself that is not picking up anything. ^_^

Turntable with onkyo HT-R530

You cannot plug in a turn table to this receiver because it does not have a pre-built pre-amp. So unless your turn table comes with a pre-built pre-amp you cannot use it with this receiver.

Onkyo ht-r530 goes off immediately after turning it on

While you are trying to turn it on, it is likely that it is cooling off. Thus you could get the same results by not trying to operate it but let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Over heating is a common problem. If you have anything sitting on top of it or too close to it, such as another device that has heat of it's own, move it. Also, if you listen at loud volumes and/or are using inefficient speakers that will also make it run too hot and trip the thermal protection circuit. Turn off any equalization or "loudness" features or listen at a lower volume...may also want to get a small fan to run on it too.

Remote controller codes

Go to Onkyo's website http://www.onkyousa.com/. rest the cursor over the support button at the top of the page. Adrop down menu will appear. Select owner's manuals. Select receivers on the new page. Select the manual for your model (HT-R530). It is a PDF file. At the bottom of the manual will be a section about the remote with the codes.

Onkyo subwoofer not working

I fixed my subwoofer. The resistor at R16 (right next to the fuse) was the fried component. I removed it and replaced it with a 13K ohm 5 watt metal oxide resistor (from Mouser Electronics if not available locally). Works fine now. I got the solution and the circuit schematic from an audio hobbiest at diyAudio.com. This is, evidently, a fairly common problem.
