My Candy fridge freezer CPC240FFK seems to turn itself off - light goes out and no sound. If I turn it up to Super it does work, but the fridge is too cold, and when I turn it down it goes off again. Now it is playing up even when on Super, swithching itself on and off. Can you diagnose the problem? SCW

Thank you dmb23 , for your suggestion. I do believe you are correct about the control board. The first engineer I called told me about this part, but was unable to fix the FF and so put the old one back in. I then called Candy and was told their repair man would come and fix it, his fee was £100 for callout and labour only, so my bill would have been well over the £100mark. So I bought a brand new Beko FF for £200 and am well pleased with it!

I recently found out that there is a component in a fidge called a control board this basically tells the fridge what to do i recently had a variety of problems with my candy F/F starting with the interior light not working it turned out to be the CB had this replaced and now working fine i have been told a CB (control board) can pack up from somethng as simple as a light bub blowing so possibly might be your solution all the best

My candy fridge freezer stopped working, both parts..... orange light flashing and light inside fridge coming on and off all the time....model number is CPC240FFK

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Green light does not come on for settings 0 to 4

the ice cream is the clue,if it goes hard then the temp is too low (ice cream best kept at -18C)

Candy Fridge - The freezer part is not cold enough, fridge ok!

A couple of things to check-
- Is the condensor cooling fan running? This will be located to push air through the external cooling coils, wherever they are located.
- Does the auto-defrost timer work? It may have failed and stayed in a position that has left the heating elements (for defrosting) turned on.
- Does it seem to be running way too long and not turning off as it once did? This could indicate either a loss of coolant (would need recharge and leak detection) or the compressor is reaching its end of life. If the latter is the problem, expect a cost of $200-$400 US.

Candy CFC 290 FF

Candy frost free freezers have a 'self defrost' mechanism to remove excess ice build up. What happens is the ice gets packed around the heat exchanger in the back of the freezer and it can't self defrost. This is easy to fix but will require the fridge to be left switched off with the door open for a couple of days so all the ice can melt. Make sure you left the appliance off for as long as you can as if there is any ice left the problem will just come back.

Fridge Feezes

My Candy fridge freezer done the same. After a bit of investigation, I found that the little plastic shaft from the front temperature dial that connects to the thermostat has snapped. I merely glued it back together and it worked fine.

In essence, the thermostat was turned on to super all the time, and turning the dial anti-clockwise did nothing as it wasn't connected to the thermostat.

Very flimsy I say.
