Thomson Theater Audio Video Receiver DPL 550HT - Surround stopped working

Thomson Theater Audio Video Receiver DPL 550HT - Thomson DPL 550HT Theater System - Ok, so a problem occured with this. I always connect it with my laptop through the "VIDEO" plugs (three colored plugs: yellow, white, red; connected in the front, down-right side / and the other side of the cable connects to the laptop through the headphones port (mini-jack)). Some time ago I noticed that the surround is not working. Only two speakers are working right now whenever I listen to music (The ones marked as "FRONT"). My Laptop also marked these speakers as only two "LEFT" and "RIGHT". No other speaker works, including the subwoofer (the tiny lamp on it also stopped flashing). I don't know whether this is a hardware or software problem, I don't really know what to do with this problem. :( It used to work perfectly, with every speaker producing sound.

My suround sound works w/dvds how do i get tv volume to work in suround?

Hi Charles,

To hear audio from your surround sound (stereo receiver) the audio signal needs to be managed by the receiver. You likely have your DVD machine connected (going into) your receiver, then your receiver going into your TV --- your receiver is splitting the audio to the speaker, then the video to your tv. To get your TV signal split, you need to have your cable signal going into your receiver as opposed to into your TV directly.

Having a problem with my Thomson DPL 550HT home theater. When i try to play something the sound repeatedly goes off and on in about a one second interval.

I would have to guess that the internal power supply has one or more bad capacitors. Time to take into a technician for repairs.

Hi, I hve JVC TH G30 and i have connected my DishTV receiver (not HD) to the Aux port of the device. I can get sounds only on the front left and right speakers.. Is there an option to get surround for...

This is a 2-part question. You can get ALL speakers to SIMULATE a surround experience from ANY input, even 2-channel analog.

If there is an optical digital audio output on the Dish TV receiver use THAT and the TH-G30 can decode the surround audio properly.

Read up on surround modes in the manual.

I hooked up my system and only the front 2 speakers and the SW work. How do I get the others to work?

You're in Stereo mode.

Try three things:

1) See if your receiver is in Stereo mode.
2) You can change your audio preferences from within your DVD menu from Stereo to surround.
3) Change receiver and dvd audio menu options to Dolby ProLogic surround.

Can't get XBOX 360 to have audio through surround sound speaker

Make sure that you have the RC Cables (red and white) plugged into the audio ports that coincides with the component video inputs. If that wont work then try plugging the audio and video cables into the inputs for the satellite, since that works. That way you can isolate the issue. If it still wont work try using the XBOX 360 HDMI cable. That has both audio and video.
