I want to directly connect my Yamaha DGX 520 to my computer through USB MIDI cable. Can anyone please tell me which USB midi cable is compatible with this model.
do you still have the driver i would like a copy preferably one that works with windows 7
It looks like they rearranged their site. The page is now herehttp://usa.yamaha.com/product_archive/ke...
Click on the Support tab to get to the driver. They don't list one for Windows 7, so it may be built-in to Windows. If not, it won't hurt to try the Win98/ME one

You have to discover the receive channel for the dtxpress. Try downloading Midiox which is a freeware app that actively displays everything that is happening midiwise in real time.

Either the keyboard is disconnected or the Keyscan on the keyboard itself is but. More than likely a loose connector.

You would connect the in's to the outs on the MIDI connections.
You would need a driver fro the EMU cable so that the USB will be recognized.
You LIKELY will need a soundbank EDITOR compatible with the keyboard to allow talking to the synth. Often theswe are called "plu-ins" to use with Cubase. They may already have one or it may be an option, some of which have to be purchased seperately.

If you only have a stereo output from the DT you need to record audio to a sequencer track so you can remix it better.

The BUP is an archiving format proprietary to the Yamaha apparently containg styles as well as note data and conversion is really not easy.
If you can get the instrument itself to spill out MIDI and use a MIDI interface and software to capture it on the PC is the best plan.
Once it is in SMF format you can play it on the PC.

I have searched a lot to find the suitable cable for my DGX-520 model but there is no cable which will connect it to the system. I have also checked out the official site of the makers and couldnt find any cable that is compatible to use. Even UX-16 midi cable is not compatible. So I would like to know if there is any other alternate option for me. Do i need to buy a low-cost mixer and connect my keyboard to it through the regular cables.
I have the manual (which comes with the product) with me and it has the page dedicated for making midi conenctions. But i just cannot find a MIDI cable that will work with DGX 520 model. Any suggestions about other company's cable that might work. Or there any universal MIDI cable that can be used with it.
Thanks Aaron C for your reply. Can you suggest me a name for the type of cable you suggested for my DGX 520? It would be really helpful. Await your reply and others' too.
It's a standard USB 2.0 data cable. One end has a Type-A male USB connector, the other has a Type-B male USB connector. It's the kind that you'd use to attach a printer to your computer. You don't want the mini or the micro connectors. You can buy them pretty much anywhere, but they're dirt-cheap online. Just search for "printer USB cable" and you'll find the right one.
I presume the "printer connector: end goes into the keyboard.Which slot should i plug it into? Anyways I'm definitely gonna give it a try and will let you know. Keeping my fingers crossed.

You would be correct. The flat connector connects to any open USB port on the computer and the square connector goes into the port labeled USB TO HOST on the keyboard. You may need to have the driver software installed first for it to be set up correctly. Also if you want to be able to play/record it through the computer, then you need some kind of MIDI composition software if it didn't come with any. Anvil Studio studio is a free program with some decent features, but charges for additional options like printing sheet music.http://www.anvilstudio.com/
