SOURCE: Minolta Maxxum 7D Lithium Battery Replacement

To change this battery you need to dissasemble the back of the 7D, the metal frame behind this one, the front and the right cover and the PCB that support the compact flash reader/writer.
You can see the top of the battery if you remove the compact flash card and look right on top of the connector. The silver rounded portion behind the connector is the battery (5mm diameter soldered on the back of the PCB).
This is quiet difficult job, wit a few delicate connectors, and the flat cable coming from the gyro near the lens is very difficult to reconnect.

SOURCE: BLANK (BLACK) PICTURES

Yes this is a common problem. Set the camera to take a long exposure shot (5 seconds) and with the lens off take a photo. Can you see the ccd or just the shutter (black)? If its just the shutter the shutter is jammed. It's basically a question of persisting with rebooting the camera and taking shots until the shutter frees itself.

SOURCE: anti-shake problem

symptom 1: referred to as FFB (Firts Frame Black). this is when you do not use the camera for a while and when you attempt to take the first snap shot, the Shutter is either stuck, or takes a blank/black picture (some cases the picture came out bluish). Sometimes the camera would freeze and you would need to remove the battery and re-insert it in order to reset the camera. Usually the camera comes back to life and and is usuable for a while until you store it. Sony will fix this free as they identified it as a design flaw in which the remedied (incorrect gear size for the Shutter charge assembly). Contact Sony support as they own all Minolta camera assets and tell them you have the FFB or First Frame Black problem and they will set up a ticket and instructions on where and how to send it.
symptom 2: Camera does not respond at all to the shutter release. Focus is fine, menu works, every function works no problem except for the most important - taking a picture (releasing the shutter). When you first turn on the camera, you hear the Antishift module attempt to center the CCD with a series of clicking noise for 5 or so seconds (not a good sign, also called the death rattle). All 5 AS bars in the view finder are blinking. In this case, the Tebure Assembly (AS Module) has failed and will need replacing. This is not cheap - sending it in to Precision Camera will run you around $250-$280. You can do it yourself if you order the assembly from Sony: Item - ( TEBURE ASSY ), U3008233U, $118.22 ea. via 1-800-488-7669 (will take 3-4 weeks). And follow the service manual to install and calibrate it (via the service manual download at http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/topic36109_post396839.html#396839).
However, if your camera experienced the FFB and then siezed (symptom 2) you can probably still get Sony to repair it free as its one charge for a complete camera repair. Call them up and tell them your situation.

Precision Camera picked up the responsibility for fixing the 7D and 5D Konica-Minolta cameras when Sony bought out K-M. I contacted them when my 7D wasn't functioning, and sent them my camera. Fortunately, on of the problems was "First Frame Black". Precision completely refurbished my camera and returned it to me in better than new condition. Sony picked up the full cost for the total refurbishing; all I paid was the shipping cost to Precision. I might add that my 7D was not in warranty. The URL for Precision Camera is:

Camera won't take pictures.

Go into the settings and select Clean CCD. It should be under the blue menu. The shutter curtain has a tendency to stick on this model. There was a recall on them way back when they first came out. 1a53cc1b-6da0-4b38-942c-78caadf51633.gif 1bcf9dee-9615-448f-a170-16ef0e446320.gif

Konica minolta maxxum 7d support

This is a common problem with the 7D. The shutter curtain will stick after several years of service. Put the camera in clean mode to get the curtain to lift, or send it to Sony to replace it. It was a design flaw by Minolta.

I just bought a Minolta maxxum QTsi from a lady and it had no manual with it, I can't figure out how to load the film. Can you take me step by step on how to load the film and how the camera works when...

Hi, I've found the instruction manual online for you, http://www.mediacollege.com/equipment/manual/konica-minolta/camera/maxxum-qtsi.pdf that way you have it for future reference. For loading film you open up the back of the camera and make sure that the end of the roll of film is aligned with a red mark and then you close the back. For taking pictures you press the shutter button half way in order for it to focus, when the image you want is framed you press the shutter button the entire way and it'll take the photo.

How can I find out the shutter count on a 7D?

In the camera setup page2 set "File # memrory" to ON
From now the pictures are recorded on the CF card with the shutter counter number (for example Pict8194.jpg or Pict8194.mrw)
You can read this when you look at the pictures with the play button and press the dial UP, the third line from the bottom shows the directory and the counter number (for example 100KM023-8194,

Lens adaptor

The good news is that it is possible to get the camera to operate with the lens & adapter :-)

The bad news is that you'll only be able to use it in manual mode :-(

To get the camera(s) to actually fire, you will need to change some settings.

For the Maxxum 7:

Go to Custom settings (No.16) and change to 'Lock Off'.

For Maxxum 7D

Go to the settings menu (purple cog icon) and then to sub-menu 3. Change Shutter lock to Off.

With the camera set to Manual mode, you can still use the built-in meter. Half-press the shutter button and you will see a metering scale appear in the viewfinder. This will indicate whether the shutter/aperture setting you've selected will over/under-expose the image. Adjust your settings until the indicator bar is over the zero.

Hope this helps,

Matt.

PS. Even if you could somehow modify the adapter, the lens won't have the necessary electrical and mechanical coupling for the cameras to control it in an automatic mode.

LCD Display

I was cleaning my CCD and damaged the shutter. Same problem. Click to take a picture and the camera locks up and powers off. Turn the camera back on and the shutter releases and the camera resets and powers on. $281 service call later and Precision fixed it quickly. Replaced the shutter. They warranty their work for 6 months. Priced way too high, but nobody would touch it. As soon as I told other repair services how I messed it up, they turned me down. I had to much money invested in the camera to toss it in the closet.
