I was just looking for the tanks because my cat knocked it over and broke the tank, although I am not sure if it cheaper to buy a new one.

If you are trying to descale it of all the mineral build up. The easiest way is to mix a 50/50 1 gallon solution of Distilled White Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water and pour it in the empty tank. Allow it to sit for a couple of hours (Longer if it's really scaled) . Then turn it ON and run it, until the tank is half empty. Then empty the remaining solution and fill the tank with Bottled Distilled Water and run until it's empty. In the future, it's better to use Bottled Distilled Water, rather than tap water.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Here is all the info I found Ser # 50908272 Holmes Humidifier HM-300

It depends on how humid it is in the conditioned space, how well sealed the conditioned room is, and how high you have the humidifier set. If you have low humidity in your conditioned space and you are asking for a higher humidity number, it could go through quite a bit of water. If your room is not sealed well, it will allow lower conditioned air into the room and put a larger demand on the humidifier

Humidifier does not reset

According to Holmes, one of the causes of the Reset light staying on is scale buildup on the heating element.

Remove Scale: Allow to cool before maintenance.
1. Repeat steps 1-5 in the Daily Maintenance section.
2. Clean the base by partially filling the base with one
8-oz cup of undiluted white vinegar. Let solution stand
20 minutes, cleaning all interior surfaces with a soft
brush. Dampen a cloth with undiluted white vinegar
and wipe out entire base to remove scale.
3. Rinse with clean warm water to remove scale and the
white vinegar solution before beginning to disinfect
the tank.
4. Wipe the heating element clean with a soft cloth after
it has had chance to cool.

If the scale has really built up it might take longer than 20 mins for the vinegar to get rid of it and you might need to refresh with new vinegar.
