Footers don't print correctly using MS Word 2000

In an MS Word 2000 document my footers are just page numbers. This seems to confuse my printer! A page will start to come out and then get pulled halfway back and go out and in several times. Then it comes out blank, followed by another blank page. Sometimes only half a page will print, and the footer will be at the top of the next page. When I don't use footers, it prints perfectly.

On my Laserjet 3015, in Microsoft Word, if I set top, bottom, left, and right margins to 1", on the printed page, the margins print as Top 1", Left 15/16", Right 1-1/8", and Bottom...

Hi,
The default paper selection/ size in MS Word is 'letter'. you may have designed the document on letter size and while printing you have A4 size paper in the printer.
So, Make sure that you design the document on the same paper size (such as A4, which is commonly used). Secondly, while printing don't print the document directly. From the Print dialogue option choose the exact paper size and un-check (de-select) any option of paper resizing (if available). You will have the documents printed exactly as designed.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

LaserJet 5Si printing slow use to be able to hit the print key then the printer would fire away. seems like the printer pauses between pages then prints maybe 3 to 4 pages per minute

Could be software. I have seen the last several Adobe latest version documents take several seconds to print. I have also seen increased print times with MS office 2003 Powerpoint documents. If it is a single page MS Word or Excel document and u are printing several copies of it, you should turn off the collate feature for printing of that document

X4650 not printing footer correctly

Most printers have a no print border roughly 0.6 cm around the page.

You may be able to set the printer to "Edge to Edge printing to get around the no print zone.

Make sure the label size is correct, if the print encounters a gap before it is complete; it will re-print the same label. In MS Word make sure the page size is set to the correct size including any headers and footers and Width etc.

Remove from text

depending on the program you are using - you may need to go into the page setup section or footer section and either disable the footer or delete "confidential" from the footer section so that it doesn't print on your documents. Text in a header/footer will not display on the screen you are working on but will print on the final page.

Printer will occasionally print incomplete document

Sounds like an issue with the bottom margin and/or footer if you are using a footer. Check the page setup and reduce the bottom margin.

Cant print page numbers or footer, they are cut in half

depending on your physical location you may need to change the default paper type for your printer..

American default is Letter, where as Australia is A4, these paper sizes are only slightly different.

I'd be checking your margins also in your document.... Are the numbers cut off when you do a print preview?

Designing a document in book form and printing in Word 2007

When you select Book fold for your page setup, Microsoft Word prints two pages on one side of the paper. When you fold the paper, it opens like a book. This option is intended for documents that have more than two pages.
1. Set up your document as a booklet.
When you create a booklet, it's best to start with a new, blank document so that you have better control over the placement of text, graphics, and other elements. You can add a book fold to an existing document, but you may have to reposition some elements once the book fold is in place.
A. Start a new, blank document.
B. On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Margins tab.
C. In the Multiple pages list, select Book fold.
If your document is not set to landscape orientation, Microsoft Word sets it to landscape.
D. In the Inside and Outside boxes, type or select the amount of space you want for the inside and outside margins (margin: The blank space outside the printing area on a page.).
If you need even more space along the fold to accommodate binding, type or select the amount of space you want in the Gutter box.
E. In the Sheets per booklet list, select the number of pages you want to include in a single booklet.
If the number of pages in the document exceeds the number of pages you select for a booklet, Word prints the document as multiple booklets.
F. Select any other options you want in the Page Setup dialog box.
G. Add text, graphics, headers or footers (header and footer: A header, which can consist of text or graphics, appears at the top of every page in a section. A footer appears at the bottom of every page. Headers and footers often contain page numbers, chapter titles, dates, and author names.), and other elements to your document as usual.
2. On the File menu, click Print.
3. Set options for printing on both sides of the paper.
If you're using a duplex printer (one that automatically prints on both sides of the paper)
Click Properties, and then set the options you want. If you have a choice of setting the page orientation and duplex options, select landscape orientation, and flip the document on the short edge or short side.
If you aren't using a duplex printer
In the Print dialog box, select the Manual duplex check box. Word will print all of the pages that appear on one side of the paper, and then prompt you to turn the stack over and feed the pages again.
4. Select the page range you want to print.
If you click Current page or Pages, Word prints the page you indicate, plus the three other pages that belong on the same sheet of paper.
If you click Selection, Word prints your selection using the default page layout instead of booklet layout.

MY PRINTER DOES NOT LABEL IT'S Pages

What application are you printing from? Basically its the software that handles these features

Try this:

Please try the following:

1. Have your document up on your screen.
2. Click on "INSERT" "PAGE NUMBERS".
3. Select the options you prefer (as header or footer), (right, left, center, inside outside, etc.).
4. Make sure that these page numbers are not outside of the printable area or margin area.

If you are placing the page numbers as a footer:

1. Click on "FILE" "PRINT".
2. Click on "PROPERTIES".
3. Click on the "PAPER" tab.
4. Choose "MAXIMUM".
5. Click on "YES".

This will enlarge your printable area so that you can set your bottom margin as small as .12 inches. This will help in printing the page numbers as a footer.

If this does not resolve your issue, please contact Microsoft for further assistance. This particular issue is software related.
