Home Cafe GT300 Black and Decker- won't work, brand new

Just got a brand new GT300 and I can't get it to work. When I push the 14oz button the creamy button also comes on and they both flash. Can't get it to brew at all. Have unplugged and plugged back in and still get the flashing lights once I hit 14 oz. Thanks

I was just told my the Home Cafe customer service department to keep unplugging and plugging back in until it stops flashing. They said if I can kick start it, there are relatively few problems after that. If it doesn't stop flashing, she said to return to the store. Sadly that is what I will be doing. This is the second time I have had a problem with a Home Cafe.. I expected more from Black and Decker and was sadly disappointment. As a side note, they said they didn't have any other troubleshooting for the GT300 other than returning it to the store if unplugging didn't work.

My GT300 will not take in water. The two blue lights blink after a while but nothing happens.

This is my third machine - the first was the original one and was purchased 3+ years ago. Each time I used the machine, it created a terrible burning smell. I contacted Black & Decker and they gladly replaced the machine and this one worked fine. I was disappointed however, that it only lasted approximately two years but, because I loved the machine so much, I did purchase another one. I have only had it a few months and am having the same problem - nothing but blinking lights! I have unplugged the machine MANY times -- it worked the first two or three times I tried that. I have tried to brew and clean the machine, but now nothing at all - just blinking lights !!!

I have the very same problem with the creamy & 14oz lights blinking. But applying pressure seemed to solve the problem. Thanks for the info this machine was about to be the second one to die this week. The other being a Melitta One:One which I can't even get to turn on at all.

I have the GT300, and it also started having problems with the 14oz and cream loight s blinking. After trying the unplug and replug thing I gave up, I came back to it the next day and it started working again so I just kept running it over and over until I got it to fail again when I opened the lid and put a pod in to make a cup of coffee. It wouldn't work again so I unplugged it and set it back up and held my hand on the lid and applied a little pressure and it started working again, so far with a little preesure applied it still works. My guess is there is a switch that dosen't make as well as it should, you don't have to hold the lid down during the entire brewing cycle just long enough for it to get started. Good Luck

With the GT300 you can service the unit. You will need a flat head screwdriver, preferably a low quality one, that will need to have a small spot filed out in the very middle of the flat head area to remove a few special screws that are common to these appliances.Luckily it is very easy to modify a flat head screw driver to remove the area necessary to make the tool work well enough to remove the special screws. After that, you will need a phillips screw driver as well. Remove all the screws, some are hidden underneath the plastic grip pads on the bottom as well. You will observer a tin can heater, and a priming pump (white) and an invensys ******** pump (red). The invensys pump (CP1, CL1) is very easy to service and this is what you will find the problem is 99% of the time. Just unscrew the plastic ends (you may need a wrench) on the invensys pump. It will come apart, be careful to keep all the pieces, they will spring apart like a jack in the box if you are not careful. Get all the pump pieces where they are moving again and then put the pump back together. There should be two metal rings with a plastic ring between them. You may have to plug and unplug the unit a few times and get out any excess water before getting the system primed and running again.

This isn't so much a solution as a workaround. I've found that the tab on the machine where the water bin sits is the cause of my blinking light problem. I unplug my machine, take the water bin and the bottom piece that the cup sits on out, and turn the machine upside down over a sink or towel to get the excess water out of that little area. When I plug it back in, it works just fine. Give it a shot and good luck.

I had a similar problem and discovered that the button that was flashing was "stuck". I used the tip of a very sharp knife to unstick the button and it worked fine after that.
