What fluid is used in mobility scooters electronic brake for sterling sapphire

There is no fluids in either brake on on these, there is two braking systems, both electronically operated .when stopping or slowing up power generated in motor is returned to the battery .this rapidly retards the motor dynamically braking the scooter,a fraction of a second after stopping the electric parking brake is applied by removing its 24volt supply, this is the click you hear when starting or after stopping the scooter.the only servicing reqd is to dust of the casing of the electromagnetic parking brake. do not dismantle it,or oil it.to test try to push scooter,if it moves easily when NOT in freewheel.replace it.

Brake system of a scooter

There is a parking brake lever at the back, but if you're talking about stopping the scooter while riding it, there are no separate brakes.
taking your finger off the power lever turns the electric motor into an electric generator which slows and stops the scooter very quickly.

Pride Gogo scooter breaks don't work when I come to a stop

hi, so would it be right to say you can still push it when you stop ?
The brake simply stops the scooter from moving , it does not slow you down, the motor does that.

Does the brake click when it comes to rest ?, if the scooter has not been used for sometime or kept out in the cold it can start to seize, so spray some WD40 or contact cleaner would be best in the slot around the brake area now remember you just lubricated the brake so don't go near hills or road until you used it and you're sure the brake is working again.

I have a sterling diplomat 306 id,

Hello,
Look at the right hand back corner of the bootlid recess, there is a very small steel spike sticking up which is a switch. Sometimes if the scooter goes over a sharf bump, the lid jumps slightly and the switch lifts momentary and puts the brake on. It thinks the lid has been lifted and goes into charging mode.
Switching the power on and off resets the system until the next sharp bump.
The switch is ajustable, or the bootlid needs to be pushed down harder before locking it.
I had this happen on my Diplomat 408i.
Hope this helps.

Paul

L when i have used my gogo scooter its ok for a while but after i've been using it for a hour or so it wont go and keeps beeping. After a while when it has cooled down it goes again. What can this be please

Hi lindatuxford

I have owned my own business for 3 years and have been working on scooters and powerchairs for 15 years.
1. Sounds like a brake problem. Here is the test. Run your scooter until it stops. Being careful not to get burned. Touch the brake attached to the free wheel lever and trans axle. If you have a bad brake it will be very hot, don't get burned. If the brake is cool, then thats not your problem.
2. Bad batteris can also have the same results as you describe.
3. Pull out the battery box out, Wire brush all connectors and replace the velcro on the bottom of the box. Sometime the box can jump out and stop your scooter and beep your horn.

Good Luck

In Drive position the wheels are locked and in neutral the wheels remain locked and will not spin or free wheel. In drive with the battery in the unit just clicks but does not move, everything works such...

I would suspect that the brake is not releasing causing your problem. When you place the handle in freewheel and you can't push the scooter easily then the brake pad is stuck on the motor housing. If you are able remove the seat and back cover remove the drive wheel on the side of the scooter nearest the freewheel lever usually the right side. you should be able to see the brake attached to the end of the motor with 3 or 4 hex head screws. take the brake off the end of the motor and carefully leave the wiring attached ( don't break or remove the wires going to the brake or the scooter will not run at all) remove the brake and place or tie it up where it won't fall or drag. Put the drive wheel back on and turn the scooter on and see if it will now move. If it moves like it should you will have to replace the brake. You can drive the scooter like this but remember you do not have brakes so the scooter can roll backwards or forward when not on and especially on ramps Hope this helps

AXS Mobility scooter loses battery power quickly.

hi , two problems can cause this,

1. batteries are weak, is the charger ok ? just because it 's green does not mean the charger is ok, can you validate the charge, try some other batteries ?,

2. Brake be activated or on at all times,
The best way to prove this is to remove the brake mech from the side of the motor completey now try the scooter, if the problem goes away then check the resistance of the brake, is it open or shorted ?
If you feel the brake, batteries and charger are working ok then the controller must be activating the brake and this is the fault but please double check the voltage on the brake leads.
