All-In-One desktop computer disassembly isn't usually posted.
Technology is still new enough, and required skills needed, dissuade the imparting of this information.

Plus eMachines is about worthless for support info anyway, lol!

A) Construction, and design of the machine dictate a laptop type of environment.
All the hardware components are crammed into one tiny box, with very little cooling inside, and the monitor is attached. (LCD screen)

Free Service Manual,

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/232919/Acer-Ez1601-01.html#manual

Just go to the top, and click on the page number you want, or go page by page;
OR,
Scroll to the bottom right below the first page, and click on the Green -
Download Manual (154 pages, 9.48Mb)

Going inside the all-in-one means you had better wear an ESD wrist strap, and have the alligator clip attached to a good ground source.
(Electro Static Discharge)

Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.
Wear an ESD wrist strap, or prepare to use your all-in-one for an expensive doorstop, if you don't.

Cost averages from $3 to $6. One example,

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103245

[ I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame if an open, empty desktop computer case.
You can also set a large metal serving tray, (Unpainted), on the table you're working on, and connect to it.
Or a large metal knickknack. (Unpainted) ]

Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.

SOURCE: How do I open up

Your CDrom/DVD will have a very small hole at the front of the panel which will allow you to insert a paper clip into it. This is the emergency manual eject button. Make sure your PC is powered down or the disc may come flying out. Simply push a straightened paper clip in the hole.

Is it possible to upgrade the motherboard in a eMachines ez1601 all in one computer?

Usually no. These boards are made specifically to go with the case of this model. Notebooks are like that too. Sometimes there are similar models with better components that could fit, but its hard to know.

Emachines c2881 unable to upgrade to sp2

Yeah, but you may not care for it.

I, personally abhor the automated feature of Service Packs.
I would rather download Manually, and see what I'm getting.

Takes longer?

Sure.

Cramming junk down my throat that I don't want, don't need, and it is just filling good space I need on my harddrive?

Uh, no.

What to download, there's so much stuff, and I don't know what I'm looking at?
Just download the basics.

What?

Okay, download manually one at a time. When you can't boot your computer, Yep, that one has got to go.

Acer, (Excuse me, I mean eMachines), wants how MUCH?
You told them you could buy a better, used, computer, for that much.

Right?
(I know. I know. Be nice. There's always time to be bad. Lol!)

Lemme see. What could Acer have done for 150 bucks.
Motherboard? Ummm. Harddrive and new genuine copy of Windows XP? Ummmm.

Naa!

They were going to pick your computer apart, to see what the problem was.

You stated " I even tried not using the restore cd but a copy of XP again...."

Meaning a;
1) NEW genuine copy of Windows XP?
2) Genuine copy of Windows XP from another computer?
What are we talkin' about here?

I want to know what the original problem was? Why were you using the Restoration Disk in the first place?

I want to do a system recovery on my emachines but I dont have the recovery disk, can anyone email it to me?

nope recovery disks are either made specific to your computer or come from vendors otherwise they don't work too well

Operating system not found

Hi Roderick Sykes:

You need to Verify your BIOS:
Verify the computer's BIOS settings to make sure that BIOS lists and recognizes the hard disk. See the computer documentation or contact the hardware manufacturer for information about how to verify the BIOS settings.

After you verify that the computer's BIOS detects the hard disk, restart the computer, and then test to determine whether the issue is resolved. If the issue is not resolved, or if the computer's BIOS cannot detect the hard disk, you may have issues with your hardware. Contact the hardware manufacturer to inquire about how to resolve this issue. You may have to replace the hard disk.

Also use a system utilty software like RegInOut to avoid such type of errors in future.

Hope this solution works for you.

Emachines t1116

Usually e-machine and other pc's have a factory restore setting set up in case of an error. You can; according to emachine tap the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time when the eMachines logo appears. Press "Enter" and follow the directions on the screen to recover the operating system back to factory condition. I hope that helps, if those keys don't work try F11 at the emachine logo. Good luck.
