I have a GE JBP35DM1CC Oven Stove. The single surface indicator light stays on even though all burner elements are cool to the touch and the surface controls are all off . I have a multi-meter to check continuity. Where do I place the leads on the control to check for a bad controller?

SOURCE: burner will not turn off

I will need the complete model #. There should be a sticker near the bottom front behind the drawer. Can't use the # that is on the owners manual.

SOURCE: I have a new ge range. When I turn on the left

mvek,
If you could see through the glass, you'd see "temperature sensors" located near the elements. They're very sensitive little guys, and rightly so! Their job is to detect temps and energize the warning light on the cooktop so users won't get burned.

To answer your question... It appears that there is an issue with the front left sensor (and possibly the right as well). The temp warning lamps should NEVER go off immediately. Please call for warranty repair (1-800-GE-CARES). This is an unsafe condition for you and your Family. The warning indicators are there for a reason and should indicate high temp's as long as high temp's are present.

SOURCE: surface unit control problem

The burner element that is staying ON is also the same one causing the surface light to stay on.
The switch that controls the element is bad.
Unplug the range. Open the switch control console and replace the defective switch.
Make sure the range is unplugged because of high voltage in the console.

SOURCE: I have a GE stove that has a red light for HOT SURFACE

The control switch for the right front burner is bad. A new switch will solve the problem.
The situation, while annoying is not dangerous.

SOURCE: None of the top stove or oven elements work.

Hi,

The control is operated by 120 volts and the heating elements work off of 240 volts.

The most logical reason for your not heating (if there is none of the burners working) would be that one of the sides of the circuit is broken. Most likely this loss has occurred at the circuit breaker, try turning the breaker off completely and back on.

If this does not resolve the problem then the power loss may be a broken wire inside the range.

It is best if someone knowledgeable in electricity with a good meter does the testing beyond the breaker or fuse in the home.

Indicator light stays on when eye(s) are turned off

The stove indicator light normal stay on until the burner cools off, and then the indicator light goes off, this is to prevent someone from touching the burner, alerting them that the stove is still hot.

Electric range burners and oven element just stopped working. Burner indicator light came on and oven temp setting displays correctly. Clock went into set mode automatically, though. Burner came back on...

check the power behind the stove, the outlet for 220 volts, i just fix one with the same problem, it was getting 110 volts but not the 220 volts. so there was nothing wrong with the stove but with the power source.when the stove indicator lights work and the clock, it means that only 110 volts are coming to the stove.
