I bought a brand new memory card today, and the message I keep receiving is card setup, when I choose "Format", and select "yes", the message I immediately recieve is "Caution Erasing All". Then, when I select "yes", It displays "! Card Error". Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to purchase a 1GB card but am now glad I didn't. If your card isn't bigger than 512MB, then have you tried to format it on a computer first? (Not sure you can do that, but might be worth a shot.)
The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is an M or H 512mb card. The 1gb or 2gb card is not compatible.
The firmware in the camera cannot support memory storage with that capacity. The camera came out before those cards did and there no plans to upgrade the camera to allow those types of cards to be supported.

This error message means that the card is corrupted or formatted for another digital camera. Turn off the camera. Insert a new card or format the card.
Try to format the memmory card using a card reader and the PC this should solve your problem if not you have to replace the memmory card.
I've tried to send you a message 3 times so far today - not sure if this helps but a tech site suggested that the max capacity tested for the HP 318 was 16 MB - my card that I tried today was 8 gigabytes ..
I ordered a 16 MB card - hope it works. Good luck to both of us!

You need to look at your image storage settings. Press "Menu", "up/down" and "OK" to choose "Image Storage"; is it set to "auto" or "internal"?
If it's set to "Auto" then there's some reason that it's not recognising your memory card. You should format it. Press "Menu", "up/down" and "OK" to choose "Format" and then select the memory card.
If it's set to "Internal" then you need to set it to "Auto". Then it will use the memory card if it's inserted. (Take the card out to access the photos in Internal Memory.)
With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then, insert the new card and do the format thing again.
