Keyboard My son recently played a game on my computer and somehow changed the settings for my keyboard so that the two buttons just below the space bar (used to select stuff) don't work now. I have to use the two buttons below the touch pad mouse to select stuff instead.

Wired and onscreen keyboard space bar doesnt work

Keyboards are cheap. If you need to use this one then you will need to carefully pop the spacebar key out, turn the keyboard upside down and give it a good shake. You will see a ton of junk fall out ;)

Hi I have just tried to set up my son's ocean netbook. I seem to have locked the keyboard somehow!! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Locked as in it doesn't accept input? Some laptops will have physical buttons on them for disabling the touchpad and keyboard. Please list the make and model if you need further help.

Thanks

The space key has stopped working my son plays games and has used the space key excessive.

You will find that it is FAR cheaper to simply buy a new keyboard rather than attempt to fix the broken one.

My son was playing with the keyboard on my laptop and somehow turned the keys of. How do I turn them back on?

Hi,

Do you mean to say that he had turned the hotkeys ON? If so, please press the shift button five times. If you are referring that even the keyboard is nt working, please check for the internal wiring.

Regards,

HI,
Run a quick diagnostics on the keyboard . To check if the keyboard is OK .
To do the same
1. Shut down your computer
2. Hold down the Fn key and press the power button
3. PSA diagnostics screen would appear , which would test the LCD and you would hear beeps
4. Second a memory test would run
5. It would prompt you to run advanced memory diags , say no to the same
6. Enter the dell 32 bit diagnostics on the next prompt
7. Run a custom test on the keyboard.

No audio sound after installing the keyboard software

when you loaded the software for the keyboard, the buttons on the keyboard for functions will be active, have you made sure that the mute key on the keyboard is not pressed 'on' to mute the sound?

Keyboard doesn't work properly

Turn on your computer, go to the control panel, if you are using Windows XP, click on switch to classic control panel" and then go to Accessibility Options. There is a keyboard tab that the settings can be changed to help people with disabilities operate their keyboards better but if you hold down certian keys for more than a few seconds, Windows XP will activate these settings. Sounds like your son accidently turned on "FilterKeys" There is a check box on the Keyboard tab of Accessibility Options that turns off FilterKeys. If "Use FilterKeys" is checked, uncheck that box and then click "OK" and see if that helps.

Good Luck!
