Hello,

Most of the time the older Dells have the Nic card in the miniPCI slot. You can use a free program called WinAudit available via a search at majorgeeks dot com. This is a stand alone program needing no installation.

Once you audit your laptop, even without the drivers installed, you should see the chipset used on your NIC card. These drivers are always Dell specific and need to come off the Dell site.

However, if you look on the bottom of your laptop you will see the Service Tag ID. Post the Service Tag ID back here and I'll look up your NIC and post the link to your driver so you can download it for your Inpsiron. I have a support account at Dell as do most of us on this board. You just need to let me know if this is the original NIC inside or if its been replaced.

Include the Operating System you are using, Vista or XP or W2K, etc.

I want to factory reset my dell centrino laptop.

Use the Dell recovery CD to restore the Dell laptop bach to Out of the Box condition.
If you do not have this Recovery CD for your model laptop then you can get one from the Dell WEB site.
You can get a Recovery CD or download the device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select the Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Dell Inspiron 600M video memory error - doesn't matter Safe Mode - starts on Startup - comes up with video memory error only when running diag. Thanks!

this means the drivers for the vga or video card for that matter is corrupted or not installed. Reinstalling should solve the problem. Below is the website to download drivers for your dell pc.

Where do I get the ethernet controller driver for my dell inspiron 600m laptop? I tried the dell website but you need some downloader or something. Anyone can help please?

You can get your drivers at

If you use your service tag, all appropriate drivers will be listed for your model.

Creating xp diver recovery CD

it would be quicker to download drivers from dell web site and burn to disk,rather than trying to find xp restore cd,if u need xp drivers here's the link for 600m(laptop)
