You might just have a "glow in the dark" keyboard, not all are actually illuminated.

I have a IBM personal computer Platinum III When I turn on my computer it starts normally but after that on my screen appears a text that says "System Error: tastiera Blocked" And after I can't...

Tastiera indicated that you have a keyboard problem. Most desktops can't run without a working keyboard. (You need the keyboard connected and working during the power-on self test, POST.) Currently the motherboard can't communicate with the keyboard.

What is the model number for your computer? I don't recall a Platinum III, just a Pentium III. Is it a laptop or a desktop? What type of keyboard do you have (USB or PS/2 connector) or is it the built-in one of a laptop? Are you using some sort of converter/adapter for the connections? The USB to PS/2 converter for a mouse does not work with a keyboard. There are some USB to dual PS/2 converters available. However, they don't work with with all motherboards. What OS is installed on the system?

Try a different keyboard. (You should try a PS/2 keyboard if the system has PS/2 ports. If the OS is older than Windows 98 v. 2, then the USB ports are even more likely to not see the keyboard in POST.) If you use a USB keyboard, try different ports. If possible, make sure that the keyboards work on other machines. If it does, then I recommend replacing the system. The Pentium III is a ~20 year old CPU. That's certainly old enough to have major failures.

I hope this helps.

How do I unlock the keyboard of IBM Selectric III???

The Selectric typewriter has several "interlocks" that can cause the keyboard to be locked. When you turn the machine off there is a mechanism that locks the keyboard. When you turn it on the part should move and unlock the keyboard. Sometimes this part sticks and the keyboard will remain locked. When you type any character the keyboard is locked to prevent two keys trying to type at the same time. The machine locks and unlocks very fast. One keys is locked in and prevents others from working. try turning on the machine and hitting every key just a little bit harder and see if it then types. When you shift, as the ball is turning the keyboard is locked temporarily so it won't attempt to type as the ball is turning as that would damage the machine. Sometimes the shift mechanism can cause the keyboard to remain licked as the shift may not have finished it's complete cycle. Also, the return mechanism locks the keyboard temporarily when the carrier is returning to prevent you from typing when the carrier is moving backwards. Only a qualified technician can resolve those issues.

I have a cyborg III keyboard and cant get the sidekeys to work

Hi,

In order to use those keys you need to program them with the functions you want. They don't have anything pre-programmed to do by default.

Download the latest drivers and software from here : http://www.cyborggaming.com/download.htm and program them to what you want.

Hope it helps...

Go Type keyboard for Palm Pilot

According to amazon.com, the 1121 is for the PalmPilot and Palm III. I have a later GoType and the model number is 2500. On the bottom where it's got the P/N it says "for Palm III/VI". Landware is still in business, but only selling software these days. You could try emailing them to verify Amazon's info and find out if your keyboard works with any other devices, such as the Handspring PDAs or the short-lived TRGPro.
