I think that with f10 gets you into bios, check what offers because the bios of laptop is very typical you dont have many choices as desktop bios.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion dv1000 PC Notebook Audio Problem

I just found the solution to the entire fiasco, including my own. Turns out that the HP company sucks and are completely unorganized. So...what you do is...you simply, instead of looking for your exact laptop perse (for example mine is the: HP Pavilion dv1000), you simply turn your laptop upside down and look for the Product # and search it somewhere in the HP support page, the result will be the drivers you need, even if the dv. # doesn't go with your laptop, those'll be the drivers you'll need.

How to get bios password for HPDV 1000 Laptop

to reset the bios password you need to remove the RTC battery for about 2 or 3 minutes, unfortunately the RTC battery on your comp is in a hard to get at spot, here is the service manual link https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:Qnll0FDGyLMJ:h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00312379.pdf+HP+DV1000+manual&hl=en&gl=au&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjzOpN2_LzzpCtFcLAfb1GrMzBa4i-cpUBBFBw4OX8ZGupLrTjOGEt6WsFxtfHp1R29eL6L5PRZw8qlrkfJ0_A5Gu1DvHRbeDza3CZP1gj3EumC2ZGWlHkZ2IrBi31LPC6Oc23k&sig=AHIEtbRkO_TzCI2L6EuzJDQZcdvA8qh4Mw&pli=1

My Hp Pavilion dv5000 crashed! XP cd displays error message!

If you are facing this issue while installing Windows, Most probably there is an issue with the memory card. If you have two memory modules try to use one of the memory modules in each slot at a time. If you have only one memory stick then try to use it one by one on each slot. If you it does not work then probably you might have to replace the memory stick.

Hope you find this information helpful.

My laptop HP Pavilion dv1000 is not working so I pressed F10 for the Bios Setup Utility went to tools to do a Hard Drive Self Test and the Test Status is #1-07 Fail. What does that mean?

Hi there.
The error code means the drive has failed or that Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology, or S.M.A.R.T is faulty.

Go back into the bios and disable the
S.M.A.R.T, hit F10, save the changes and try to boot again.
Please post back with the results.

Good luck

Why Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing ? and how to disable it in bios ?

This particular error would typically indicate a problem with memory mapping associated with a peripheral device. I was unable to locate a hit for okfu53.sys, but most likely this is a device driver of some type. The instruction to disable cache is a holdover from old hardware and operating systems and is most likely not actually applicable- however by disabling it is just two areas that are memory users that you don't need at that point. Frankly I would just reboot. If you see it again reinstall the video drivers.

How to remove BIOS memory cache

Since it is a Toshiba Tecra if you are not worried about losing data on the laptop you can try turning on the laptop and start pressing the zero key. It should give you the option to restore your laptop if you haven't deleted the restore partition on the laptop.
