I have an hp officejet 7310. When I try to print something (fax, document, copy) it says "printing page 1" but freezes. If I hit cancel and try to print again, it usually will print. Then after printing it does it's customary recycling thing and after the print cartridge goes back and forth a few times, I hear this horrible cranking noise and next time I try to print...it freezes again. I can then hit cancel, try again, and usually get one print job done till it makes the same cranking noise and won't print. I have checked for paper jams, etc. Can't figure out what is causing the cranking noise or why that seems to force the printer to freeze.

go to hp.com, support and troubleshooting, type in your pirnter model number and download the user manual. follow the direction to disassemble the printer. you might not need to disasseble the printer, if you can see the jammed paper.
follow the direction and clean the roller and the printer head.
it should work.

To start with first try a reset:

Unplug the power cord from the All-In-One as well as the power outlet when there is still power in the All-In-One. and wait for atleast 1Min
Plug the power cord directly to a wall outlet without surg protector. (if possible connect it to a different power outlet)
Before connecting the power cord to the All-In-One press and hold the # and no 6 button and then insert the power cord, do not release the keys
until you see a message a reset (if the screen goes blank then release the keys and turn the power on)

Then check and see

If not try the link bellow:

Why does my printer print 1 blank page before printing material

Wild guess: uninstall your printer, remove drivers, look if new drivers are avaulable at HP for your printer and your operating system version and reinstall the printer.

My printer is hooked to my laptop but when I click on something to print it will not print anything.

Hi,

Are you able to make copy standalone ?

If yes, follow the steps on your pc

Click on start button
Click on Control panel
Open Printers and Faxes Folder
Check if there is any documents stuck in Queue on the printer icon
If yes, Right click on the icon and click Cancel all documents, ( do it 2-3 times )
Refresh the page by pressing F5 button on keyboard.
Disconnect the printer power cord, Restart your PC and connect the cord.
Try to print

Hi,

you can try the following steps .

1
Take out the cartridges from the unit .
2
Make sure the unit is connected to the wall jack directly without any surge protector.
3
Unplug the power cord from the back of the unit ( without turning off the unit ) .
4
Now press the # and 6 key together , while holding these keys down plug in the power cord back into the unit .
5
Do not release the keys after a few seconds u will find te hp logo or bars moving across the screen .wait while the unit turns off.
6
after one minute turn on the prnter . it will go into alligment phase > let it finish .
7
after its done > try to make a copy .

Note - you can also try the Ok n cancel key combination in place of # and 6 .

Thanks

Hp 7310

If the color cartridge doesn't print the color bars on the alignment page (either, redish pink, yellow or blue) then the alignment process will not finish. Same for the black. If the black cartridge is printing ok, then replace the color cartridge and try this again...
