Screen goes to sleep after "no signal" message

While watching an extended streaming video or video file, the monitor screen will go black, show a no signal message, and then the power light at bottom of screen goes to yellow. All the while the audio continues unaffected. Have checked connections and found everything good.

If you do not move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard it could be just going into video power save. Confirm it by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard. If the monitor comes back on, adjust the power settings in control panel and change the time for the "turn off display" to a more suitable setting.

I have a blank screen on my HPf1905 monitor. I have a HPm7330n computer. How do I know if its the monitor or the video card? Monitor shows a message no input signal, then goes to sleep mode.

if the message you recieve is no input signal if only means that you have a problem with your video card, the monitor is fine but you need to have your video card check

My screen keeps going black any ideas?

If it's not showing anything and goes to sleep mode, then did you try to select the proper input from the monitor's on-screen menu?
Otherwise I can't help you unless you are more specific - when does it go black, right away or after 10 minutes of watching a movie for example?...

Screen saver displaying unwanted message

This happens on monitors with a sleep type function. Make sure that the sleep mode is turned off and that it is set to never turn off inside of windows. Then the no signal error should not come on again.

Screen shows message "no input signal" and monitor goes to sleep.

monitor show "no input singnal" error masage when not gating any type of video singnal ,
so if u realy check your monitor wires for correctty plugged in .
then:-

Two possibilities:

either the video/mainboard of the monitor is defective; or
the video card/ CPU is the faulty.

A way to verify is to try the PC with another monitor or to try the monitor in another PC.

thanks

I have a HP monitor model f2105, screen is black

Have you recently installed a new video card? If not then you need to because the one you have is broke. If you can plug in another screen to see if that works and if it does then you should re-install the software (if any) that came with the new screen. If you need anything else please let me know.

No DVi input, then computer goes to sleep

Hi publicworker,

I had a similar problem whereas my monitor went to sleep mode after a few minutes. I'm running an HP LP 2065 in dual mode with another HP flat screen. However, I did resolve the issue after resetting the output settings.

How to do that:
  • right mouse click on the desktop
  • select graphic options
  • output to
  • extended desktop
Maybe some changings/modification will help you too.

Monitor stuck in sleep mode

It will do this when it's not getting a video signal from the computer. Make sure that the signal cable is firmly plugged in at both ends. Also verify that the computer is actually starting up. The monitor may not be getting a signal because the computer isn't sending any.
