How do you get a drill bit or screw driver bit out of a Cordless Drill? It has been left to me. VPX 1222. I dont know how to use a drill, never had one before.

If it has a key-less chuck, hold the skirt behind the chuck proper and turn the chuck clockwise with the drill point facing away from you. If it has a chick that has a ring of teeth macnined into the outer band, you need a key to release the bit in the chuck. Keys vary greatly and if you do not have one, you will need to take the drill to a hardware shop for them to supply you with the correct size and configuration key. If you do have a key. place it in one of the three holes in the front part of the chuck, engage the gear teeth and turn the key anti-clockwise to loosen off the chuck jaws and remove the bit. If you require any more information, feel free to approach me at any time. Please rate this answer to your question.

I have a 0302-20 1/2 drill how do i remove and replace the chuck ? i have the bolt out of center.

Chuck the handle of the chuck key in the chuck.Find a drill bit that fits in one of holes that the chuck key fits in.Then use a flat screw driver to lever off of the drill bit and the teeth to tighten the chuck .Use a towel and hold the drill motor,be careful not to squeeze to tight just enough to hold the drill from moving.Use a harmer and strike the chuck key and that should loosen the chuck.A 1/4 inch chuck key will work as well.If this is a key less chuck then use a small pipe wrench and hammer on the back part of the chuck with the handle left as you look at the drill.Good Luck & Thank You for choosing FixYa.com.

I can not change the drill bit. Do I need another tool?

that depends on whether or not you have a keyed or keyless chuck. if you have a keyless chuck then you do not need another tool you must turn the chuck counter clockwise to loosen the chuck and replace the bit. if you have a keyed chuck then you will see three holes around the chuck of the drill ie the part that holds the bit. just below the holes you will see teeth spaced evenly around the drill. a chuck key allows you to put the end of the key in one of the holes and using the teeth you turn the chuck key thereby loosening the chuck and allowing you to change the bit. if you have a keyed chuck just take it to your local hardware store and they can provide you with the correct key and show you how to remove the bit. if your chuck is keyless the hold the chuck put the drill in reverse and pull the trigger use a glove to protect your hand

How to fix the bit

If your Makita matches the one on the picture, you will need a chuck key to attach a drill bit or tool to the machine's chuck. The chuck key inserts to any of the small holes in the front part of the chuck and at the same time its teeth interlocks with the teeth of the chuck. When turning the chuck key you will widen or loosen the grip of the three jaw pieces, that clamps to your tool or bit. Tighten the chuck key by hand until the chuck grips the bit securely. For safety, unplug the power cord whenever operating the chuck key on the chuck.

How do I get the opening on the drill to close around the drill bit

Turn the "chuck" (the round part that the drill bit goes into) with your hand until it is snug, then use the chuck key to tighten it the rest of the way. The chuck key should be strapped to the cord of the drill. It looks like a gear and has a "T" handle for turning it. It fits into the gear teeth on the chuck.

KEYLESS CHUCK WAS JAMMED WITHOUT DRILL BIT. I loosened it but now one of three teeth sticks out further than other two. How do I get them back in alignment? Black and Decker VP825 type 1.

You can't the teeth inside are either broke or it skipped. The easiest thing to do is buy a new key less chuck from your local home center and replace it a cheap one goes for about $9.99.

I need a 5/8" chuck key for a Mod.1600(1984)Duracraft drillpress

There are perhaps half a dozen sizes of chuck keys. Sears carries them. You can measure the size of the pin by finding a drill bit or bolt that fits well and taking that to the store with you. You can approximate the size of the teeth by using a piece of paper and forming it over the chuck and using a pencil to rub over the teeth. Put a hole in the paper with the bolt or drill bit to capture the radius from the pin to the teeth. If you find a couple of close candidates, buy them both. Sears will take the other one back. Good luck.

I need a chuck wrench/tool for a duracraft drill press

Are you talking about the chuck key? That's the little wrench with a collar of gear teeth on it.
There are only a few standard sizes plus a couple of odd-balls. Last time I looked, Sears carried a good selection. If you have the old one, take it with you to the store. If you don't have the old one, find a way to measure or approximately measure what you need. Another chuck key that doesn't fit can be a useful reference. If you can find something (maybe a drill bit) that is a close fit into one of the three holes in the chuck, that can be useful too.

How to fit drill bit to drill

it depends what chuck (the part the drill bit goes into) on the old ones you had a chuck key that slots into the hole on the side and connects to the teeth to tighten the chuck around the bit, keyless chucks are tightened by hand instead of the key and the SDS have a collar that pulls down, you have to turn the bit so it then slots in then just release the collar to fix it in place good luck!!!
