I have the same problem with a Phillips rear projection TV. A blue arc from left to right bottom screen. it double presents any writing. Re-setting the guns does not help. Re-starting the TV after it has warmed up seems to help temporarily, but problem returns.

You Tv has a bad chip ( I recommend you replace both on the convergence board ). 80% or more of the projection sets I get into my shop have this same problem and by replacing the convergance chips, it normally corrects the problem. If you are going to preform the repair yourself, be sure to use lots of heat sink grease to prevent the problem from happening again and I always suggest you use the original chips ( same numbers ) as the after market parts don't always work well. As a pre caution, always remember to unplug the set before doing any work inside the set. Good Luck

SOURCE: When doing Magic Focus on

Your TV most likely a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

The kit comes with original Sanyo STK IC’S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made IC’S full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases GOOD LUCK!!!

My TV Sony Wega KDF-50E2000 had a message showing on the left side of it to replace the projector lamp. It has a blue semi-circle line and yellow color display. I have replaced the lamp however discoloring...

The yellow blotching is your blue filter going out in the light engine. You will need to replace the engine, but the cost is so high you would be better off replacing your TV.

There is no blue cable in a 220V, so you have only; white, black, red and ground always green colored wire.

Looking your plug frontal side.
Green Ground on top (semi-circle)
black on left
red on right
white on bottom (neutral).

I can see a semi circle on my screen

If you see a white outline of a semi circle it is a pressure mark caused by something pressing down on that part of the screen. Nothing can be done except to replace the LCD if it bothers you. Good Luck!

A blue semi-circular hue on the bottom left of the screen

9 times out of 10 the Blue Polarizer heats up and discolors which causes that problem, all projector's have the same issue and have for years. My professional recommendation is get in touch with Sony, they have been extending the warranty's for this issue. If they won't the have a servicer replace the light engine of which is not cheap.

Blue tint on half the screen

Sounds like the lamp is not far from going out.... I would get that replaced before you have no tv at all. It will go from semi blue to burned out lamp pretty quick.

Horizontal hour glass picture

The convergence Ics need replaced. In Hitachi, resistors and sometimes a coil needs replaced as well. The convergence/deflection PCB is available, but, the cost of that board is higher than having a servicer come to your home and repair the unit to component level. If you are not familar with this circuit, then call a servicer. Have them replace both ICs not just one. Make sure they are repairing to component level and not replacing the board. Hope this helps.
