Onkyo 545 one channel don't work

You have already pointed out the problem:
Problem is Det.Protect: I.
How to fix :
(1)download 545/535/525 service manual.
(2)check all power transistors CE & BE resistances
if theyy are very low ,0 ohm, or infinity.
(3)check all 0.22 ohm resistors if they are open
or turning greater.
(4)Check the biasing circuit with a small rating
transistor and an orange color variable resistor.
(5)Check all channels.

It's usually the hdmi switching IC that goes bad on these. Not something you can really replace without the right equipment and knowledge.

I don't have a fix but I think the general explanation that could explain both issues would be that the memory for your settings isn't being retained. Check to see if the digital audio source you're having trouble hearing still has its input assigned to it. I'm thinking all your settings go back to 'factory' when you turn it off.

You COULD also try a forced microcomputer reset once just to see if that resolves the issue (same page).

I don't think its a harmless coincidence that it happened while you were touching it.

Assuming 'damp' means 'no dripping' I'd discount mositure as the cause. Was there something else you may have touched or caused to move during your actions, like speaker wires? Retrace your steps (with power off) and imagine what may have moved.

Disconnect the speaker wires at the receiver and see if that helps. If so, you just need to start adding speakers until it fails again or not, then isolate the cause if it is related to specific channel(s). If it doesn't come up 'naked' something cooked inside and a hands-on tech needs to get involved.

In the future - turn it off when manilpulating anything on, near or attached to it.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the problem...

One speaker? Why would you have one speaker attached to A or B? A and B represent speaker pairs and are driven by the same two amps.

It's also not clear if you're saying the speaker is failing or the channel. You CAN swap them to find out.

Either way, the amps are common to both speaker pair connections so if only the B pair isn't working at worst you have a switch problem.

7.1 would have Surround Back L and R.

6.1 would have just one back there (SB). It defaults to the Left output on the Pre-Outs if you ever go that route.

This being a 6.1 receiver it does not support two SB channels BUT you can configure those amp channels for a separate Zone supporting 2 speakers. Confused?

The manual shows a single SB speaker connected to the left side on Page 27. THAT would be consistent with a 6.1 configuration.

Unfortunately can't connect it that way. The pre out is only meant to go directly into an amplifier that has all of the same inputs (front/rear, center and surround), not a standard receiver. (Pre amp to amp only, not pre amp to receiver) If your Onkyo doesn't have all the same inputs as your Kenwood preamp has outputs you will just use your standard left/right outputs from the Kenwood to your Onkyo input (CD, Tape, Phono,DVD etc) then use the outputs (front/rear, center and surround) from your Onkyo receiver and connect directly to your speakers..

Recommend changing your FINAL drive AMP IC most house BOTH right and left channels, your drivers right channel input is good cuz it is used to make the left channel signal

get a new receiver
