I have a HP Pavillion DV9000, purchased NEW lass than 5 months ago. Used mostly for work, multimedia and VERY LITTLE gaming. In operation at least 8 hours a day at work (on a Thermaltake Tai Chi? cooler) and about 4 hours at home.
The issue is when viewing videos, the screen freezes, then displays vertical black lines with tan blocks throughout the screen. Occasionally I am able to restart machine and all is well upon restart. More often, I am unable to restart and must power off manually and turn back on. This had become increasingly more common and thus more irritating. Any ideas or suggestions before I seek professional help would be great! Thanks!
After gaming for about an hour the display gets distorted and freezes. It doesnt happen all at once, its more of a gradual thing. First the color of some of the pixels go screwy and get progressively worse. After a few minutes of this the screen freezes and then the computer restarts. Once in a while the game program just closes and there is a message that says that the display driver has stopped working properly and recovered. This happens even after downloading all the current updates for my computer and video card. Does anyone know what I could do to fix this? After gaming for about an hour the display gets distorted and freezes. It doesnt happen all at once, its more of a gradual thing. Laptop batteries will usually last from 1.5 to 5 hours, depending upon the demand, the battery and the use. Sound burns up a lot of juice as does the DVD player so if you're watching movies or playing games an hour is about right. You can purchase a better HP PAVILION DV9000 Battery with 12 cell , it will work longger.
