If the Modem has an ethernet port (looks like a large phone plug like the ones on the router) connect an ethernet cable from it to the "internet/wan" port on the router. If it doesn't there isn't much you can do.

I have a linksys WRT54G, and I'm trying to hook up a wi-fi connection. As of now, my internet is Internet Explorer, and my current modem is a motorola SB5101. The Motorola modem is hooked up directly to...

Hello
Try this

1 disconnect all wires, including power from the modem and router.
2 Find reset button on router usually in the back, need a pen tip or paper clip to hold it in.
3 Hold in reset for 1 min.
4 Reconnect modem first,power up.
5 Reconnect router second, power up.

Try changing the ethernet wire from the modem to the router.

So your going to have your cable coax wire to the modem. Then a ethernet wire from the modem to the router, then a ethernet wire from the router to the computer.

Sounds like you may have one wire in the wrong place.

How do you connect 2 routers into one network? I have a Linksys E3000 and a WRT110...I've had the wrt110 for over a year but I found I needed a second router to cover my entire house so I purchased a...

The easiest way is to run a long Ethernet cable from one of the 'LAN' (or 'network') ports on the "first" router to the 'WAN' (or 'Internet') port on the second router. The "first" router is the one connected to your cable-modem or DSL-modem. Both routers will auto-configure themselves for this "wired" connection. Configure the wireless-adapter in the second router as per normal.

Or, run a long Ethernet cable from the cable-modem (or DSL-modem) to a location in the "center" of your home, where you can put your wireless-router, such that its signal spans the entire building.

Or, move the cable-modem (or DSL-modem) to a location in the "center" of your home, and connect the one router at that location.

I lost my netgear installatio cd, what do i do to install it?

You dont need that CD, in fact I recommend NOT using it.
1. Power off your cable or dsl modem for about 30 minutes 2. Also power of the router 2. Connect a cable from the modem to the Internet port on the Linksys router 3. Connect your PC to the router. 4. Power ONLY the dsl or cable modem on NOT the router. 5. After about 1 minute power on the router.
Should work now.

Need to redo wireless setup betw linksys & westell

You will need to assign a different ip address to the Westell modem - I am assuming that both the router & modem are using the same ip address 192.168.1.1? If that is the case, then assign 192.168.1.2 to the modem.

2. Enter your ISP account information
3. Setup your SSID name, secure your wireless with WEP or WPA keys
4. Save settings.
