Start by adjusting your carb 1 full turn out on the low and high side. This should start and let it run. Then if it bogs down while accelerating, turn the low side out another quarter to half turn. You could also have fuel line, fuel filter or other fuel issues.

Probably "gum" and "varnish" build-up clogging the TINY passages [called 'galleries"] inside the carb!

Rod, Carb. may need adjusted, try loosening gas cap and start to see if cap vent plugged, there is a in tank fuel filter that you could fish out and remove to see if it is plugged. If still not running remove muffler and clean spark arrester screen, if screen plugged the trimmer will do this.

Check the air filter isn't dirty.
If the machine runs ok on high speed but cuts out while idling, the idle speed may be too low. There is usually an adustment screw for increasing the speed.
If the fuel line is a flexible type which moves around inside the tank, check it is able to move freely because if you are cutting at awkward angles, the end of the line can end end up above the surface of the fuel, **** in air and airlock the line. You can eliminate this as the problem by fully filling the tank.
Check whether there is a one way check valve on the tank. This vents air into the tank as the fuel leaves for the carburettor. Sometimes particles of dirt can get stuck in this.

just bought a new Poulan 25cc 2cycle gas power weed eater . I can start it with the choke on but as soon as put on run it dies.

get a can of starter fluid and a helper. Start the weed eater and then squirt enough starter fluid into the air intake to keep it running while you move it through the settings. This will rid your tool of the crud that is causing your problem. Joe
