More than likely a broken belt. A fairly easy fix. Disconnect Dryer electric by shutting off the breaker. Then remove the front panel that surrounds the door. There are ususally a couple of screws on the bottom and you have to pot the top. Get a belt off the net or from a appliance dealer. The belt slips around the drum over the motor shaft and on a tension Idler wheel. Pop is back together and you good to go. Try checking You Tube and see if there is a video on dryer belt replacement. Good luck! :)

SOURCE: the dryer is not turning where do and how do get

you will have to remove the front panel. screws are on the inside of the door, may be two on the bottom corners, with a flat tip screw drive gently pry up on the top corners. remove panel disconnect door switch, the belt goes around the drum to the motor and has rollers on the back of the drum. I even think on the backside there is a rest button. Hope this helps Tim

The dryer heats, motor runs but drum doesnt turn.

Could be one of several things. The drum turns by motor and fan belt around the drum. The most common problem is that the fan belt is broken. Check to see that the drum is free and not bound up by frozen bearings. Also that nothing is jamming the drum. If everything seems to be ok --- you need to check the pulley on the motor shaft and be sure it is tight on the shaft . More than likely -- it is a broken belt. I hope this helped.

My drum stopped turning on my zanussi tumbler drier. Not sure if something got stuck somewhere in the drum. Is it easy to take apart and fix or should i leave well alone.

Depends how handy you are lol, make sure its unplugged from mains remove the back plate on machine then you can see if there is any clothes jammed or maybe the belt has come off or broken

The drum doesn't turn on my dryer, why?

A couple of possibilities:

There is a belt that goes around the dryer drum. It may have broken or slipped out of place. If you remove the top of the dryer (usually pretty easy), you will probably see the belt going around the middle of the drum. (If not, maybe it broke.) It is loose? If so, it probably slipped off the motor or is broken (as you may find if you pull on it). If all this seems ok, you need to remove the front of the dryer. That's usually a little more complicated, but not too bad. Now you'll probably see the motor. On mine, it is on the lower right. Does the belt go around the motor pulley and the drum and is tight? If so, maybe the motor is broken.

At this point you need to know if the motor works, but that may not be really easy because opening the door usually breaks an interlock switch that stops the motor from turning. But if you are careful, especially with electricity, you may be able to bypass enough things to see if the motor turns. Alternatively, note the exact position that the motor pulley is in (mark it if necessary). Then reassemble the dryer, try to run the motor, and then open it again. Did the mark move?

At this point, you probably have enough information to see what needs to be fixed or replaced. One additional problem I had was that the motor pulley was slipping on its shaft. If a plastic/nylon part has broken, you may need to replace it. Of course, if the motor isn't turning, make sure that nothing is jamming it somehow (like a stray sock tightly caught in the belt). Hope this helps.

I have a wirlpool dryer mod#LER7620LW0 the elements heat but the motor will not turn seems to turn freely by hand is it the motor or is their a start relay somewhere

maybe a broken belt, or the motor is locked put but i recommend you looking for the belt and then turn the motor by hand.

Dryer wont turn inside but gets hot and turns on

If it's not turning at all, the belt is probably broken. If it turns a little and then stops, the belt is slipping. In either case, the belt needs to be replaced.
