315 battery (1.55V) required - many other names, including SR716SW. I use Renata or Maxell brands.
My wife has two "Must de Cartier 21" watches (we purchased both new from Cartier around 20-25 years ago now) - one is stainless steel and gold plate, whilst the other has a genuine red (Australian farmed) crocodile skin band (both watch faces have the blue hands and the blue sapphire on the winder). Both watches have six tiny flat blade screws holding the back on and both have a seal. I have a powerful light and a magnifying glass and I bought a set of five jewellers screwdrivers off eBay (cost AUD 6.95 delivered) to change the flat batteries on both watches (the 1.0mm wide flat blade screwdriver was a good fit). Purchased two Renata 315 batteries for AUD 3.99 each delivered - can use other brands such as Maxell; one of the old flat batteries I removed was an Energizer 315. Cartier shop charged over $250 last time for a battery change for one watch!
Take care - I thoroughly cleaned the back of each watch with a soft cloth and IPA (lot of dirt built-up on those tiny screws and the slots weren't visible at first). Have a receptacle ready for the tiny, tiny screws, and work on a table with a nice white soft cloth underneath. I didn't even have to remove the band/clasp (videos show you what to do if required - pretty easy). Took 45 minutes total to change the batteries on both watches - don't pinch the seal when re-fitting the back and don't drop any screws or touch the coil (coloured cylinder of wound wire)!!! Not hard at all - just take care (plastic tweezers are a good idea for removing the battery).
Anyway - took 40 minutes to do both Cartier watches! Huge saving compared with how much Cartier would have charged!!! I also did the battery (373) on my Longines. I want to do my Rolex Oyster next, but will need to buy a Rolex opener off eBay to get the back off without scratching it. I won't do my wife's new Cartier Tank for now (cost a pretty penny and still under warranty anyway). I don't wear my watches in the shower/bath, or go swimming/diving with them, so using a brand new seal and then pressure testing is not relevant for me - just changing the flat 1.55V batteries! I also check the old batteries with a multimeter just to be sure it was a flat battery that caused the problem and that my new battery is spot on. I'm sure you can buy new seals on the internet somewhere if you really need/want one, but not sure how to pressure test. If your watch is under warranty and/or cost a small fortune, and/or if you need a 100% waterproof watch for diving, then please go to a specialist by all means! Before you do anything, please do some research online - forums and videos: quartz watches all differ!
Not a good idea. What starts as a 'simple battery change' could result in $500 in repairs. It is a Cartier! If it is a fake Cartier then by all means destroy it. Just realize that you don't really know what you are doing and you are about to perform brain surgery on a very expensive watch.
