My Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 keyboard and mouse, when im in windows vista works fine plugged in, the momment i reboot my dell inperion 518, it freezes the dell screen, unless i plug it out and put in a reg keyboard and mouse what could this be? matt
I have the exact same problem (POST hangs if MS Enter Desktop 8000 is plugged in at boot), on a Dell Inspiron 530. However, my BIOS (Phoeniz Award 1.0.13) does not include any option to alter the PnP or "Default Config". No options available seem remotely related to that option.

You choose your own code. It's a keyboard right? So it has numbers on it...and an Enter key.
1. Press and hold in the small button next to Bluetooth symbol under the keyboard for 5 seconds. The charge indicator lights at the top of the keyboard should alternate flashing red then green.
2. Search for Bluetooth devices on the devices you wish to connect the keyboard to. The Keyboard should be listed there.
3. Enter a code of your choice into the device you are paring the keyboard to and submit it. I used a 4 digit number which worked without a problem.
4. Type the same code and press Enter on the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 Keyboard.
The keyboard should now be paired with your device.
Good luck,

The software might not be compatible. but for you to use the wireless keyboard and mouse you don't need a software just plug the wireless adapter and sync the keyboard and mouse . it will start working
Try looking in your bluetooth places and see if you can add the keyboard by itself, if not remove the mouse/keyboard and try re-adding them both as a pair.
If you have both sets of keyboard and mouse plugged in, turn off the computer and remove the old mouse and plug in the new mouse. Reboot and if necessary use the keyboard to login. Once windows is loaded let it detect the new mouse and then shut down again. Take out the old keyboard and reboot. You should now be able to use both new pieces without problems.
call microsoft at 1800-936-5700 I just bought my keyboard today and I was having issues. I returned the product and it seems fine now.. i havent fully charged it yet so I can fully use it.. Also when I was stuck at that same issue there is a bluetooth button underneath the mouse and keyboard hold it for 5 secs and it should connect with the computer and allow you to choose next and not just cancel... but like i said call microsoft and tell them ur problems
