I bought a microsoft life cam 2.04 and tried installing it on my system. it keeps coming up with an error and also saying that the logo is not certified by microsoft. also checking for compartibility with XP.
Try disconnecting the camera from the computer USB port and reinstalling the software program . When the software program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so then. This is a common mistake, people do is to connect the camera up to the computer before installing the software. Hope this is of some help. Bud

even I had the same problem, but for me it got installed, the issue is , it tries to download and install other things like .NET framework and all and thats why it takes long,
Depeneding upon your internet speed it could take a while or less
i left it for whole night and the next morning I witched off my laptop and then again tried installing the Lifecam , then it got installed
In control Panel - > Add remove programs , I saw .NET framework and all thing newly installed

Because Im having a problem with it aswell.
It worked fine he first time but after reformatting my computer and trying to reinstall it, it just goes on and on saying its downloading and installing files, and never gets any further, ive left it for almost an hour and it never progresses.

I have the same problem...stuck on download and install screen, green progress bars keep going across screen and start over, been doing this for forever and hasn't installed.
I tried the disk...no luck.
I downloaded the software.....no luck.
Hooked up the camera.....no luck

Same problem w/ Lifecam 2.04. Tried the disk and internet download, w/o cam hooked up... no go. Tried shutting down PC and restarting, no go. I just spent some bucks on a vid-cam Lifecam $$$ and this **** problem. Sometimes cheaper is the way to go.
Time to search MicroSoft site.
It just goes on the download and install screen and the green bar keeps on being filled and restarting over and over, and I have been sitting here for half an hour.
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! Bar just keeps filling again and again... Microsoft is not serious with its customers, im giving it back to the shop and buying a cheaper cam.... FFS!
the software for lifecam 2.04 doesn't install.. goes into an infinite loop while installing..!
All well and good saying wait for it to say to plug the camera in but thats the part after the looping "downloading/installing" message with no way to get past it.
I have the same thing the bar just keeps going up like its doing something and the harddrive light flashes but it never finishes...wish I'd got a cheaper Logitech now.
Fresh installed of Windows XP SP3 and I'm also stuck in the looping installer. This thing was working before I reinstalled my computer, too bad I can't find the CD's the webcam shipped with.... maybe if I can get my hands on a version older than 2.04
