Question about LG RH177 DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder

Open Question

My LG RH117 isn't working well.

I have that model from 2 years, but I have big problem with that now. Actually it has been started about year ago. When i only have some space on HDD recorder automatically start to record. The most weard in that is that it's recording about 8 or 4 sec clip, save it and start new record. some times it is 3 minutes, sometimes it is 2 seconds. While record on recorder screen there is sign "timer rec" but there is no any timer rec programmed! yesterday I notice, that i have also problem with playing moves. I'm watching movie, when suddenly recorder make "pause". and it continue stopping my move while later and again and again. What can I do with that? HELP!!!

SOURCE: Weekly timer recording not working

I have found the unit works on weekly or daily IF the unit is left in standy mode.. If not you get the message "Duplicate Date" after it attempts to record.. where the REC or RECOK message is displayed.. It is a "B" nuisance

SOURCE: My LG LRH-880 HDD/DVD recorder

Somehow, my HDD/DVD recorder recorded correctly 2 times last night, even if I did not do anything specific to fix. I will keep an eye on new occurences of this problem, but it appears at the moment that the issue disappeared by itself.

SOURCE: dvd/vcr recorder stops recording

I finally got word back from a pal at LG regarding this issue as where I work we are getting these and as of Friday had about 18 to 20 units with this issue.

LG told us that this has to do with the encoding with the commercials (a one time record issue) on the one time record disks (DVD-R and DVD+R) now their "TEMP" fix for this is to used DVD-RAM or DVD-RW disks (these are not regular -RW they have a encoding CPMsomething I don't remember right now) but they will update us when they have a permanent solution. I will get the type of disk for the -RW on monday and post it here for everyone.

SOURCE: LG DR 165 DVD Recorder problem

hello friends, i have been using this machine for last 2 years nearly. it showed me lot of problems. i also found yours once. this lg recorders reading lens is very poor. it reads when disc is complete free of scratches and dust. it's not possible for always, even-though, it feels very hard and takes more times to recognize disc.
so i found the solution for this problem from kind of video site that you should replace the lens of the recorder with scratch readable lens like Philips had. it will work as good as possible.
another one is that if you open this unit manually by yourself, you could find that reading unit looks like DVD writer comport, and have the pin bunches like it. so i not strongly suggest you to replace that whole unit with New DVD writer, and it may work like computer reading all files. i don't try this, but looking for it. if you get, try it.

2004 Chevy Cavalier engine light and trac off light

One year ago---your check engine light came on
The PO405 code was for an EGR Valve issue
No mention--- if you had that fixed

A Few Days Ago---you get Trac Light on,that is part of
the ABS Braking System
Now that system has to be diagnosed & repaired, not just
continue to use the car, actually make the repair, before
you do some damage or can't stop the car & worse things happen

Changing Trans Fluid---is NOT a FIX for anything, but should
be done on all vehicles every 3 years.

If the Engine Management System isn't working correctly, then
your trans won't work as it should either

You need to be proactive & immediately have any abnormal
operation or check light problems, at least diagnosed in a few days
of noticing them

You need to stop using any car that isn't 100% & have it
repaired as soon as possible.

Not wait weeks or years.
Being 9 years old, the trans may also have it's own issues

I had mine for 2 years and the main board went out. Cost 650 dollars to fix. Its been less than a yr and a half and it went out again. Selling it on ebay for parts...

We need to depress the primary start button serveral times before the washer actually starts. We have had it replace two years ago. It seems to be contact issue.

Often key pads when subjected to lots of humidity in a closed laundry room they often stop making contact. Try taking a blow dryer, on medium heat and dry for a few minuets if it starts working then it's susceptible to moisture and indicates the control pad is not sealed.

LG EF FF Error

I found another post that suggested the following. Did it and found wires/connections frozen with a huge piece of ice.

Make sure unit is unpluged!

Removed baskets (2), unscrewed back panel of freezer. A little tricky to get out. There will be electrical connections attached to the panel but you can disconnect/reconnect these. Mine were on the top, left corner. I used a blow dryer to melt the ice chunck. Dried up all the water, replaced back, baskets.

I then took the panel off the very back of the unit as the melted ice had drained into the drip pan. I cleaned the drain pan of water, dust. They don't make this an easy task for the homeowner. Replaced the back, plugged it back in and all is working again. Don't know for how long until this happens again. more LG products for this homeowner.

We remodeled the kitchen 2 years ago and went stainless steel. My 16 year old Kitchenaide is still running in the garage. Guess I'll go back to that model when the LG bits the dust.

If you go to the LG website clik on support put in your WM1814CW model number it tells you that your motor is on warranty for 7 years so you should be able to get it replaced.
